I think they will start to branch out to Hip-Hop as well as dance. Someone said the other day that the organiser was bigging up Jay-Z on Twitter or something. I could see Eminem headlining Download at some point. If they paid him enough ofc.

Why does it need to branch out? Was selling out this year not good enough? With no Soni and R&L going more mainstream it has the market already.

It's mainly due to the lack of decent fresh rock/metal acts and it seems AC is keen on going that way.

Gary Numan definitely would fit in at Download though, he heavies the older more synth-pop songs up these days, and his newer stuff is very gothy/industrial influenced, very close to Nine Inch Nails so don't see why he'd be out of place at Download. Depeche mode as well I'd have thought would be a great crossover act to have headline to be honest.

I would be happy with Metallica,Iron Maiden and repeat bands year after year if it meant no Electronic music.

No problem in principal with Dancey/Electronic acts. But not at the expense of a big rock name I'd say.

But people like:

Alec Empire/Atari Teenage Riot

Justice

Skrillex

Apollo 440

would work in lower slots I'd say. How about a "Dance" tent instead of the 3rd stage for one day? Headlined by someone like Gary Numan with ATR, Justice, Skrillex etc etc in it. Maybe some more hip-hop type peeps too? Could a "dance" tent start at say 6pm and run till 2-3am (like how Bohemia did at Soni...) or is there a specific licensing issue there? If you're having something like that why not go the whole hog and have something like "Arcadia" come?

Obviously make sure the DJ's playing more sort of crossover stuff, or DnB/Dubstep stuff anyway...

All the rock festivals get fucking Dizzee Rascal as a token hip hop act. Same as they all get fucking Prodigy as a token dance act. Either stick to your theme, or if you're going to diversify, do it with some imagination.

I was at T seen a bit of Calvin Harris , Nero and Swedish house mafia I'm sorry but they are dj's and I don't get it .... They belong in clubs whether they are mixing live or not,festivals should be about live music.

To be fair dizzy rascal is good live and he has been infulanced by grunge/rock

I didn't think much to Arcadia on it's own and preferred it when it was part of Trash City.

I really hope they don't branch out in to more dj's and just keep it predominantly live rock/metal as the festival should be.
