Yeah, to be honest prices like that are expected for bands of that size. I thought MK would be cheaper than Leeds with the larger number of tickets to move. They're quite a rarity in this country anyway so I'd advise it.

Support acts are a bonus and you'll be disappointed time and time again if you factor them into the ticket price.

I also reckon an extra date will be added somewhere, with Matt saying there'd be 15 dates and the three days between Leeds and MK.

Quotes from some Courteeners nobs on twitter;

"And we said we were gonna take a year off. Well...we're not gonna do that. We might have some new music for you."

"We said something on the radio about taking some time off.... Yeah we're not doing that."

NMEs been running off with their "2014 hiatus" news, lol. Looks like Courteeners are probably pretty likely anyway.

Was looking so forward to the Pearl Jam tour announcement only for that to be the price. So pissed off. Looks like I won't be seeing them after all.

Fuck that PJ price. I'd consider it at less but fuck that.

The price is ridiculous, think I'm gonna go Werchter now instead of Leeds though. Even after all the Blink kerfuffle :ninja:

I paid £55 for Radiohead. Maybe it's that I've been going to gigs for a few years and am out of date but afaic a standard arena show price is £40+fees, and outdoor gig £50+fees. Given the fact I have to travel to go to any arena I just feel they need to be something special for me to bother. I hate them as a venue type - I much prefer the sound quality at outdoor gigs that aren't Hyde Park, but I just feel paying a premium for indoor shows is ridiculous. I'd much rather catch bands at a festival or a big outdoor show. I even prefer stadiums to arenas (as long as price is equivalent). I absolutely hate them.

Maybe PJ would be worth it, but I'm one of those fans that feel they have 2 excellent albums and a few other cracking songs rather than are consistently excellent, and I figure that even with their distaste for fests I'll catch them at some point anyway. It's just too high a price for me to gamble on a band I don't obsess over.

I think it's really f*cking shitty! I would never ever consider spending over 70 quid for 1 band - hell I think 40 is slightly pushing it. But this is why I never go to them anymore, festivals may be 200 pounds but the memories, fun, and countless bands you can see is well worth the price.

Look at the headliners alone this year, if it is who it's claimed to be it'll be around - Arctics £50, Blink £40, Qotsa £35, paramore £35. That's £160 quid, let alone all the other bands and atmosphere.

At the end of the day, all the artist is doing is performing for 2 or so hours, and yes I know there's other fees but to get 1000s of people all spending £75 quid for 2 hours of your life.....put it this way it's why I don't feel guilty about listening to massive bands on spotify.

Gigs are a hugely different atmosphere. It's a much better experience seeing a band you love at their own gig than at a festival.

Which goes on the mistaken assumption you'd watch all of the headliners, which isn't the case even in a good year.

Artists are putting show prices up because people aren't buying albums and it's the only reliable way left to make money. Saying that they're ripping us off so you'll steal something/get on the cheap is like deciding that the gov is over-pricing stamps so you'll steal from the local corner shop.

I'm not particularly well off or anything but I think that Pearl Jam price is pretty standard. Radiohead and other big arena bands are a fair bit more and stadium gigs are about the same. It's only smaller arena acts like NIN and Queens that make it look ridiculous.

I think the Leeds one is standard, but for me, compared with going to Werchter instead, it's still a hell of a lot. Although I didn't even know the MK Bowl wasn't an indoor arena til I just looked it up, but £70+ still seems a bit excessive

Artists are putting show prices up because labels are getting greedier, and greedier.

I thought Queens were pretty good value for £35. My mates paid £32 each for Winter Wonderland (then clubbed together for my ticket).

Mind you, I wouldn't have paid much more than 40 quid to see them

(Disclaimer: I am sllighty drunk. This post may not make sense)

Courteeners fans are the worst, just had some guy tweet me 'fuck off you c**t' for saying I think they are awful on twitter, brilliant.

    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
