Lineup 2014

So, at quarter past three in the morning, this post will probably turn out to be pointless as many of you will have seen the announcement before reading but I'm gonna say it anyway. I've had some very bitty Pearl Jam details (disclaimer: I don't know if its all true, if some of it is true or if its pure bullshit but I do have some faith in it).

Press conference err.. today (Friday) to announce a 15 date EU tour. A couple of the dates I think I know are 28/6 Stockholm, 16/7 Amsterdam and (most importantly) 8/7 UK 11/7 UK (I'm pretty sure it was the 11th I said the other day). I believe the tour includes a couple of fests, namely Werchter and Opener. Not sure if the fests are included in the 15.

Not sure how I feel about Joey leaving Slipknot.

I feel like it could be the beginning of the end for them however, I'm not sure how much he contributed to the song writing process.

Joey was one of the main songwriters if I remember correctly. It will be interesting to find out why he left.

I'm not a huge slipknot fan but I'm really surprised by this news. Can they carry on after this? He was a founding memeber, a very popular well known member of the band, the drumming is a very prominent part of slipknot (in my opinion, especially as he's considered one of the best metal drummers of the modern era), I've also heard that as some of you have mentioned he's quite influential in the songwriting department.

It just feels like he's a huge part of slipknot and I can't see the fans taking this news too well. Also who would replace him? That's almost an impossible task!

Just a theory on why he left, maybe he feels the band shouldn't make any new music post paul gray?

    • some point this week the insta post says
    • I guess we should also not underestimate that the Slowdive sound person is probably not quite used to open-air daytime performances in such a large, open area. 🙂 I imagine it's very different from mixing the sound in a tent. Plus, even though I was openminded about it at first - you never know how things might sound or work out in a different setting if you don't try - I just don't think their sound is very suited for this kind of setting, it really benefits from darkness and a nice light show and all that. Still, nice that they got to give it a try.
    • i agree, was really disappointed by the Slowdive sound (we were fairly close to the podium) also if you consider that for all other main stage acts i saw they got it perfectly right.
    • Thanks man for sharing your thoughts. I would say i generally agree with you and do agree people close to the podium should position themselves further back if they want to have full conversations and apparently are not interested in the music; to fair it is mind boggling these people are even there as chatting gets so much easier in the back field. That said i did not really have the same experience as you, front rows for example at MBV, Men I trust, Big Thief, NewDad, Slowdive, where really into the music.    yes i BBK is really high on our list but we just realized it is next year 25 years of Primavera so perhaps we do one more.
    • When does the Thursday lineup get announced? I see they had Moonchild Sanelly and Young Knives last year, would be cool to get something along those lines again.
