Yeah I was joking about the typo, then went on a rant haha.

If it was a band that was even relevant or in demand then is understand. Usually bands like this are half way down the NME. Bit I guess they're not a rap or dance act so weren't eligible for NME consideration this year :)

I'm trying my best to not sound ignorant here, but who in the hell are The Lumineers!? And why are they so high? I've got a very good knowledge of music and I've never heard of them. Yet they are above Editors!?

You lot really are a bunch of lazy sods sometimes, moaning about the ignorant pricks on facebook but being just as band when it comes to a band that you have never heard of.

A simple online check reveals that they've had a top 10 single and album (going Gold in the process) so are popular here as well as selling well and being nominated for Grammy's in the US, ensuring that they have a pretty high profile to inflate their status. They have sold out two nights at Brixton (last night and tonight) so can shift a decent amount of tickets. I have heard their single before as it's been all over XFM for a considerable amount of time, ensuring good exposure to R&L's target audience. Compare that to Editors. See where I'm going with this? The Lumineers will get a bigger crowd.

Yes they may be a commercial/mainstream flavour of the month and as they are likely to have attracted attention from V may have been part of a bidding war, but that's nothing new. Yes it's a higher slot than anyone expected but again why is that a surprise, it's been happening at R&L for years?

I also hate the fact I feel the need to defend booking the shitty Lumineers.

eFests report says Bury Tomorrow, they haven't been mentioned by FR yet though.

they were in the official press release that we received from the press office.

At about 10pm last night we received an email (which we've just found) from the press office that said they were not announced.

We've just mailed back to point out that they were in the press release. Once we've had things clarified then corrections will be made if necessary.

    • Primavera refunding day tickets which are probably a negligible percentage of attendees yesterday.
    • Thursday day tickets being refunded. Fair play.
    • I’ve had a good sleep and I feel weirdly zen about the whole thing.   My first Primavera, so not the greatest first impression. I guess today couldn’t be any worse, right?   Thoroughly enjoyed Men I Trust and Geese. Cupra is a beautiful stage and the crowd seemed fun, friendly and engaged.   I think it probably could have gone even worse, considering how dangerous the crowding felt at times.   Anyway, we go again.
    • Brighton centre is a weird old venue for the Mary Wallopers - a great band, a really good live spectacle, and its a saturday night as well which sets it all up - but its at the bloody Centre? a charmless nonsense of a conference centre? Brighton dome is a ten min walk away and is so much nicer a place to see bands its ridiculous!    ah well, i'll probably mosy along anyways . . .
    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
