As a rule the thurday headliner does not end the day but a dance act does, this happened on 3 days this year.

Very similar to last year when maiden headlined and black eyed peas closed the festival. In my opinion it as there old bands maiden/dm, it keeps the younger audience there for the younger band especially as editors are werchter favorites.

I see what you mean here, but I'd just say they're less restrictive on who their late night dance acts are as I assume The Prodigy played last after Oasis the year before. I still wouldn't personally call them headliners and I agree with the sentiment that calling more acts headliners is just to keep acts happy, and fans of the act happy. It's just what you believe in the end.

You talk alot of shit.

Your comment was there not headlining werchter, when facts state they are. It does not matter if its pr or not but there headliners.

Perhaps if your proven wrong you should accept that, rather than posting a long ramble to cover your tracks.

I may be wrong about their size and maybe they are legit headliners rather than their egos forcing promoters make an 'all-or-nothing' call on them, but I think they're even further out of R&L's scope than The Cure or Sabbath and that FR would choose nothing rather than all.

I really don't see it as an ego thing (tho they might have big egos of course).

In UK ticket sales terms, The Cure don't class as headliners for R/L any more than DM do.

What puts The Cure into that headline slot is their history. They are without doubt one of the best bands of their time, and while I personally couldn't go as far with my words about DM, there's no doubting their impact in their time. DM have their own big place in musical history.

That history puts them as headliner for a festival like R/L no less than was the case with The Cure.

Have they announced US dates yet though? I assumed they are doing the US August/September, which would rule them out. Rob says they are definitely in the US for Bestival

I don't think the US dates have been announced yet.

When they are announced I expect those dates to make it very clear whether or not they'll be headlining R/L next year.
