They need the facilities on site though, that's the point. Soton will be compromised until their facility is open.

You can't be driving for 30 minutes to get in the hydrotherapy pool following training, it needs to be there, the physio needs to be there with all his monitoring equipment, now the players need to kip every day too, all the AV and briefing rooms need to be there, the catering facilities need to be there.

The margins are so tight now in football, as you say they all need to be doing this, or they'll be at a disadvantage

I've said there'll be impact, but I've also said that the impact won't be measurable on the pitch.

And the proof of that is that there's no club being credited for having instant extra success for having opened its own hi-tech facilities.

Oh come on. Every Liverpool/United issue gets covered on here for several pages and you love joining in a nice long debate about their woes, so it is hardly "boring" that several posts (because that's all it is) have been dedicated to what would be a decisive moment in the modern history of your club.

Fair point, there will certainly be no instant impact, I suspect over the course of the season a manager would be able to notice the impact.

Hmm, not sure. When 'modern training methods' started to be introduced the impact was clearly there to be seen.

Upgrades around the initial idea don't get mentioned as showing a clear benefit, it's more the case that they're believed to have a benefit so are done anyway just in case. Some of the things which have been done along the way have been later decided as wrong too - which really only gets to show that playing around in the margins gives marginal benefit (as I'd said).

If not, then Moyes must be kicking himself for spunking all that cash he could've spent on players!

Nah. As long as he's thinking long-term then it's a no-brainer. And out of nearly all managers Moyes is one who thinks long-term (it's probably only Fergie who does it better).

You probably wouldn't get 'Arry thinking it was a good idea tho, he'd know that he'd be gone before he saw any benefit.

They'll be able to tell if players are fitter, less injuries, injuries heel better, better briefed against the oppo. The players and staff would be able to ascertain a difference

yeah, for some things - but not everything. There's too many random factors to measure precisely what benefits you might be getting.

At the end of the day some of things will end up being thought a benefit on little more than a presumption.

Possibly, I really don't think they'd be investing all this money though if they were not sure that it would bring the returns.

but the bulk is the more-proven 'modern training methods' which everyone is doing and gives no one doing them any advantage over the others who do them (which is everyone).

To get anything above the others a club has to start delving into darker arts, which sometimes turn out not to give the benefit which was thought of them. It was the more marginal stuff I was talking about as sometimes only being based on presumptions.

AVB no big favourite to take over at Spurs, so looks like we won't be able to find out how a Moyesless Everton get on afterall.

If I was a Spurs fan I'd be happier with him in charge, you'd suspect he's get on better there than he did at Chelsea, still a bit of risk though

Im not convinced by Siggurdson to Liverpool, Im going on nothing other than gut instinct but I worry he may end up as more of the same as are there already. I also wonder how he would fit in the team with Gerrard, hope I am proven wrong as I would like to see liverpool doing much better next season.

Possibly! I would like to see liverpool close the gap between them and the top 4 to a reasonable distance that it is possible to close within a couple of years. I have a worrying feeling the top 4 could end up a closed shop like it used to be.

I find it hard to see past the 4 that qualified for the Champs Lge in terms of who'll finish top 4 next season. Spurs were overstretched last season and have a huge rebuild job to do this summer, particularly if Bale and Modric get sold as expected, Liverpool are sorely lacking quality, and we've not really got the resources to challenge, and that's assuming last season wasn't a remarkable one-off.

I think Newcastles success comes down to if you can keep your best players or not. Im sure Newcastle will say the top players are not for sale but we all know that most players can have their heads turned. I dont see Cabaye or Tiote at Newcaslte this time next year.

I think it depends on how many we lose. The official stance is that every one of our players has his price, with the price set being enough to - supposedly - buy a replacement, pay their wages for 2 years, and buy one more player. Ba seems the most likely of our top players to leave this summer, but apparently we've got £20m (Carroll leftovers) + sales to spend. Still, we have a small squad, and are in the Europa next season, so I expect most of that will go on expansion to maintain our position rather than trying to add sufficient quality to challenge for the top 4.

Regarding Tiote and Cabaye, both of them are making comments saying they're happy and want to stay. I think we can keep at least one of them for this season, it's what happens the year after.

    • Same’s happened at MSG recently with Rush and Phish alternating nights. I guess each band has its own unique production so their riggers will be kept busy
    • The rumour was uk arena tour late this year.  Same as Charli xcx cant be announced until Reading headline is done.
    • Latest from the sun at least is that harry is still headlining but Olivia has turned down a spot next year to work on new music and hope for 2028.   So they can't have Fender, Fontaines, Harry, Olivia and Madonna.
    • I mean I don't think EC and FFDP are borderline sub, they wouldn't be any lower now.   2025 is about as strong as Bloodstock gets yet this year only one headline would sub and the others would play 3rd down or lower.    Machine Head wouldn't sub at Download regardless of rarity, they don't sell enough tickets and I'm not sure Gojira would sub either. Their last UK tour was a mix of smaller arenas and academy dates. Ally Pally being the only London date, not even Wembley Arena.
    • live music / main stage will generally end around 11pm but theres dj’s and late goings on right till 4am if you are so inclined.   Drinks are about £7.50 a pint probably and yes theres lots of mixed drinks / spirits / cocktails available to buy   wonderful festival, back for my third year in a row and 4th overall
