Flying out to America myself tomorrow. Nothing to do with the Liverpool job though. Do expect to be sat on the plane alongside about 14 different managers though if papers are to believed.

Slightly warming to Martinez, or preferably Rodgers under a bigger Sporting Director figure. News will break when I'm away anyway so at least I'll be away from all the scare stories etc.

 - yep .... I keep reading that Martinez has flown to Boston, when other reports say he's on his hols in the Caribbean with no plans to fly to Boston.

I guess what these constant conflicting stories really get to prove is just how big a club Liverpool still are, despite the many people who want it to be different.

What do people think of clubs waiting until the chelsea situation is sorted out before they get there new managers in? With no quick fix at liverpool and villa, perhaps there waiting to see if rdm is free.

no just proves what a fucked up club they are now, can you imagine all this happenign 10 years ago. Say what you like about liverpool but they have never been a club that keep hiring and firing managers like the last couple of years.

How many will it be when they get a manager 4 in 3 years or something like that?

Oh, there's a lot to criticise about the manner in which Liverpool are going about things - that wasn't really anything to do with what I was commenting on.

I was commenting on the media obsession for reporting everything and anything about it, much of which has got to be made up (cos it's not possible for both sides of the various conflicting reports to be true).

There's far less reporting of other clubs hunt for a new manager, even Chelsea's - and the situation at Chelsea is much more ridiculous when you factor in that they already have a manager who's just won them the FA cup along with the Chumps.

I.personally hope Liverpool don't go for one of the obvious names and take a risk for the manager job. Nobody had heard of wenger when he came to England and he hasn't done bad. Look for someone who plays good football, has had some success and its not a bad start, how well known he is should worry nobody but the tabloids.

I also think there needs to be gambles in the transfer market. Don't go go the likes of Adam, downing, Henderson etc who if successful may be the difference between 8th and 6th, go for the ridiculously talented players like Ben arfa who for some reason are not at the big clubs.

In HBA's case, he had a really bad reputation for sulks, arguments, fights, etc before joining us. Had to have it drilled into him that the simple stuff can be worth doing as well.

He had an argument with Benzema and apparently punched Squillaci while at Lyon. He had some sort of fight with Djibril Cisse at Marseille, he did a Tevez (refusing to warm up in a match), missed training sessions. He didn't turn up for about a week at both Lyon and Marseille to engineer moves. Add in countless arguments with managers, a tantrum on a plane with the French squad.....

Yeah, there's a reason the big clubs didn't want to go for him. I'm delighted with him though, he can be absolutely sublime when he wants to be...

    • Surely the chances of Madonna doing three+ nights at BST and also Glastonbury is pretty low? I know Elton did (2?) nights at BST but it seems like it’s one or the other at this point?   A shame. I think she would be absolutely brilliant - plus, unfortunately, given that she isn’t as able as she was means this could be a now or never situation?
    • All of these were published in July of their respective year. Appreciate the festival is a little later than normal but it must surely be live in the next 48 hours? The first events start in five days! 🤣
    • Took the words out of my mouth. He never misses.   Definitely adds fuel to the fire.
    • Gavin Leigh Davis on Instagram, the Fabrizio Romano of tour leaks, says Sam Fender outdoor shows and likely festivals next year. Didn't explicitly mention Glastonbury but adds more to the rumour
    • I think a lot of you guys don't see Tate McRae as headliner material however she was originally billed to play back in 2025 and had to pull out (https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/glastonbury-2025-headliners-revealed-tickets-line-up-1235915362/). She sold out out all of her arena shows in 2025 and just brought in huge crowds at Oshega and Lollapalooza. Given that she's gearing up to release the second album it lines her up for a tour run in her same gap as she's usually over here over Glaso weekend. I wouldn't rule her out.
