I'd completely forgotten about them, but now you mention it I did see a few of them around on Thursday and wondered what they were up to.

The idea that some people at the festival were n the UK illegally in no way however supports the supposition that these people are in any way responsible for thefts from tents.

bloke I woke up to find going through my tent a couple of years ago had an Essex accent. I think thieves come from all over the place. They are the same people nicking cars shop lifting or robbing in every Town and City across the country. All of them are SCUM.

I thought at some point that we had camped in an unoffical scouse part of the festival. We didn't hear a southern/scottish/irish/cornish/european - southern or eastern accent until Saturday afternoon. And yes we did leave our tent after setting it up Wednesday 11am.

Every time we were in a queue that was the accent we could hear above all others. Not that I care as I had a ticket and I was having fun but the other half and I did wonder if they had preferential treatment from see this year.

I was surprised to see the UKBA, never even seen them before in my life, let alone Glasto. I suppose it makes sense as doing fesitval stalls could be an easy way to get cash in hand, lots of travelling involved...

It wasn't just tent thieves. I had some headphones ripped from head during the Silent Disco at East Dance on Saturday night. I saw 6 lads snake through and thought they were up to no good, then my headphones were then ripped from my head, I looked around, saw the one nearest me pass it to the one in front of him who then legged it. I ran after the one who had done it as he was nearest and hoped my friends had saw me go. They hadnt and I was left to confront a group on my own. They denied it but were quite hostile about it, I decided it wasnt worth getting hurt over but I lost my £20 deposit and felt quite pissed off about it. Scumbags.

Its not just the thieves, how do the drug dealers manage to get in every year, I see he same faces each year dealing their stuff particularly around the dance venues. Do they pay their £200+ like the rest of us or are they allowed access to their patches like they are at City Centre nightclubs. It does seem the only people guaranteed entrance are the thieves and dealers which does imply some sort of organisation to the criminality that goes on. Personally I think the best way to protect yourselves against it is just to know it exists and dont go to Glasto thinking its this wonderful crime free nirvana (as the 2 Americans appear to have done) take the appropriate precautions re security and lock ups and keep your wits about you.ie. dont get so completely wasted you become a crime statistic waitng to happen

I was waiting at the taxi drop off point where the security jeep was 'delivering ' people ejected or caught sneeking in and a security guy told me that it was mainly scoucers sneaking-in. Of course, two scoucers came out of a jeep while I was there and a security girl said to another colleague that 90% of people caught are scoucers. This is probbaly an over statement. By the way, I'm from Merseyside and speak with what people might call a Liverpool accent and don't prejudice against anyone - it's just what the security were saying.

Anyway, the place seems much more safer than it did ten years ago.

The people that steal things at Glastonbury will be from different places, have got into the festival in different ways and will have different methods for stealing.

The one thing that unites them is that they're selfish.

It's always worth rememebring that no thief gets away with it forever...
