2013 Headliners

surely kasabian and arctics are too similar, but as said before it seems they are struggling for headliners so if they do get desperate im sure kasabian would jump at the chance, theyve mentioned headlining glastonbury many times before in interviews.

id prefer kasabian over the arctic monkeys. kasabian are the superior live band by miles and miles.

I don't think they're too similar at all, but it would never happen, thankfully for diversity

Anyway, the point I was going to make was, I praised you in the other thread for making such a great call as Bright Eyes doing Park, and then you come out with that last line above?!

Rhysieg gave them a great shout as Park headliner, but I said it was unlikely cause they played Other in 2011. However, Conor is playing in London and touring Europe with Mystic Valley Band and is touring with his punk band, so either may be a possibility.

The first bit was a tongue in cheek comment ; ) you can like whoever you want.

I've seen Kasabian three or four times, and like their music, they've got progressively worse. I can only imagine they will continue to until Tom disappears up his own arse ina cloud of smoke with the words "tonight Matthew, I'm going to be Liam Gallagher

". I feel for Serge in that band, I really do. I wish I had the opportunity to see them off their first record, when they headlined Other. I believe there's a few on here who loved it? Wooderson, was it you who said how good it was?

i've no doubt that Kasabian are probably a great live band - i just don't think they have the songs to fill a Glastonbury headline slot. sure they've got their share of hits, but some of the recent ones (Days Are Forgotten, Where Did All The Love Go spring to mind) are boring as hell. i'm sure stuff like LSF and Fire is amazing live, but so much of it is just plodding, drab, middle of the road indie

It's not cool to hate Biffy (and the term "it's cool to hate them" is just a cop out fans of a crap band use as a defence when nobody likes them... like Mumford fans), they're just not as highly regarded as their fans think they should be. There's a sect of people who really love Biffy and think they should headline, and a majority who have no strong feelings towards them.

It can be cool to hate a band AND they can be crap. The two aren't mutually exclusive. It's cool to hate Mumfords and they suck.

Like I said, not really a Biffy fan, just thought the album was pretty good - I gave the caveat of it being cool to hate them because every other time Biffy have been mentioned in this thread people have posted about how terrible they are and how they shouldn't be anywhere. I was pre-empting that reaction.

I haven't seen any Biffy hate, just people with a realistic view of their status point out that they are not nearly big enough to headline, but I could be wrong as I only skim through. And it's not cool to hate Mumford on here, it's just not cool to like them.

UPDATE:

Hey, lads, look at this, the Smiths are reforming!

    • Don Broco secret set.
    • Regarding PinkPantheress: I watched the ending of The Cure from the back and then bolted straight to Cupra to save spots on the steps for my entire festival crew. Thus, we all had a good experience there. Sucks that not everybody got to properly see it, but it felt like something out of Glastonbury where those who showed up long in advance got to see a big artist on a smaller stage in good conditions.
