I don't mean to be negative, but a lot of these seem remarkably over-ambitious. If the previous slots have been filled by the likes of Biffy, the Klaxons and half of Radiohead are the likes of the Arctics, Arcade Fire, REM, Foo Fighters, Kasabian, The Strokes, etc. very realistic? I can understand Pulp due to their connection with the festival but it seems to me that if it's going to be anyone attached to a big band then it's more likely to be some members (ie Serge and Tom from Kasabian, Dave Grohl) doing stripped down or acoustic sets, certainly not a proper set from the full band unless it's a band with a lower profile.

I was standing next to Jarvis Cocker during the Thom Yorke set, so maybe he was mooching to see how the crowds would react to a big glastonbury band on the Park slot.

Would rather have been standing next to David Gilmour though haha

I think there's a chance Frank turner could do the friday, he's certainly growing in Popularity, and his new album is out 2 weeks before glastonbury, The Eavis' seemed keen on him before, i think in terms of a band which isn't yet booked, it'd be a very good one to divert attention from a potentially huge saturday night slot!

so, should i just go to security around the park stage each morning to find out who it is?

I want to be Pulp! At the minute I'm set for a horrible clash between them and Mighty Mighty Bosstones at Leeds, if they played Glasto it'd definitely make life a lot easier. And plus, it's Pulp at Glastonbury!

the Snow Patrol suggestion is a good shout. hadn't thought of that. Ran into them in a bar after a gig in Wash, DC where they were hanging with the most dreadful-looking groupies and told them i enjoyed their Glasto set (although i still kick myself for missing Groove Armada for them) which they said was their greatest experience to that point. Was surprised they weren't back soon but I tend to think that the way they turned from a half-decent rock band into a ballad-singing made-for-US-television-shows type of band may have turned Glasto off them, and the only route back was a 'quiet' special guest slot. Sort of what happened to Keane who were always dreadful (oh...shouldn't have said that per the rules of the OP) but were being talked up as a high-up-the-bill act every year it seems since '04 and had to settle for being 'snuck' in as a late avalon special guest in 09 or 10 (can't remember)

surely, it's Pulp though.

Can't see it being Odd Future at all unfortunately.

Think it'll be from:

Pulp

The Strokes

Arctic Monkeys/Alex Turner

Hard Fi

Feeder

    • Given the assumptions and little bits around Madonna, that BST and Paris post is probably right (few weeks later than the original post).   Just adds to the speculation that - they thought they had Madonna, and now they don't.   I can see what's gonna happen here - they end up booking Oasis and Fontaines for 2028. I don't get a ticket, and have to get out of the country + delete all socials.   That would end me if it happened and I wasn't there.
    • Looking at other Superstruct festivals this year, The Prodigy haven’t played Tramlines yet, and it’s been a while since Two Door Cinema Club have.   Those two seem likely headliners on how they tend to rotate bands.   Fontaines DC would be incredible but possibly a little too big now, Geese are having a good rise, would be great as a newer band to headline
    • Automated sessions and BOTs dont sleep.
    • I’ve secured tickets once since 2007. I’ve done 11 festivals in that time.  Thankfully I have friends with better luck!
