U2 Set Looks Heavy On 90's Material

In a recent interview, Adam Clayton had indicated that they wanted to pay tribute to the 20th Anniversary of Achtung Baby, and from their 1st rehearsal for the Summer tour which starts tomorrow in Mexico City, and includes a stop at Worthy Farm, it appears they are doing just that. Several 1990's albums appear to be represented in their soundcheck from Monday night:

U2 have reportedly done a short soundcheck tonight at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. According to tweets from fans, the band rehearsed these songs:

* "Magnificent"

* "Even Better Than The Real Thing"

* "I'll Go Crazy (remix)" with snippets of "Please" and "Discotheque"

* "Sunday Bloody Sunday"

* "Zooropa"

The rehearsal reportedly lasted about an hour, and the band soundchecked "Even Better," "I'll Go Crazy" and "Zooropa" several times each.

I'm thinking they might pull some of the props from the '91 Zoo TV tour out, which will help with the Glastonbury on steroids vibe they're looking for.

Not fussed by U2 to be honest as I'm indifferent to so much of their music, but LOVE their early stuff. Have got myself really excited about seeing them perform 'streets,', 'still haven't found', 'pride' from Joshua Tree :)

It should be one hell of a spectacle anyway, but I'll be gutted if they miss out some of the really old stuff :(

Edit...spelling. Stoopid autocorrect

I'm guessing their set for Glastonbury will be a bit different to the rest of the tour. A proper greatest hits mix up for a festival crowd.

Setlist from opeing night of new leg of tour..

Even Better Than The Real Thing, I Will Follow, Get On Your Boots, Magnificent, Mysterious Ways, Elevation, Until The End Of The World, Happy Birthday, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Pride (In The Name Of Love), Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of, Beautiful Day / Rain (snippet), Miss Sarajevo, Zooropa, City Of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight / Discothèque (snippet) / Please (snippet), Sunday Bloody Sunday, Scarlet, Walk On / You'll Never Walk Alone (snippet)

encores: One, Amazing Grace (snippet) / , Where The Streets Have No Name, Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me, With Or Without You, Moment of Surrender

So exactly the same as before....(apart from Please snipet) Jesus - don't they get bored...?

.

If I'm honest I'd be really really disappointed by this set if I got this at Glasto...Getting a bit nearer the time for comfort now

Got a bad feeling they will play more Elavation/ Get on your Boots/ Vertigo/ I'll Go Crazy/ Hold me/ party jumpy songs to cater for the morons and they'll miss out on the more depth of Bad/ unforgettable fire/ ultraviolet etc..I think they think this is what we all want - to party woooop, with, to quote CLayton, "on substances"

f**king shame if they do...

A concerned fan

    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
