The feeling of setting up your tent and sitting down to crack open your first drink is an amazing experience. As I look out the window now at the snow, I couldn't imagine anything better.

Its that future experience that keeps me sane through these winters.

As a great philospher once said: "When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Yet we know that winter is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the people of Punxsutawney and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn't imagine a better fate than a long and lustrous winter."

I am looking forward to that moment when I'll be walking somewhere on site, and it suddenly dawns on me that I am home.

I am taking a load of newbies with me this year, and am looking forward to seeing the delight and wonder on their faces as they see the whole site for the first time.

The Wednesday evening cheers which encircle the site.

Catching up with friends old and new at the Cider Bus eFest meet.

Those 4 magical moments will all be done on the first day, and knowing there's still 4 more days of magic to go.

I'm looking forward to that first glimpse of the site and tor from the shuttlebus, to drinking Brothers in the sunshine and to staying up late in bizarre places. Of course going on my own this year it may be a bit different but I'd like to think these will remain.

    • It's even less funny when in real life too...   Liddle met Rachel Royce and the couple soon became romantically involved.[84] In January 2004 the couple married at a ceremony in Malaysia. They had been living in Heytesbury, Wiltshire, and had two sons together. Six months later, Liddle moved in with Alicia Monckton, a 22-year-old receptionist at The Spectator. It transpired that he had cut short his honeymoon with Royce so that he could be with Monckton. Following their divorce, Liddle and Royce exchanged attacks in the media. Liddle called her a "total slut and slattern"

    • he was a provocateur
    • He was also arrested for allegedly punching his pregnant girlfriend.   Such a charmer.
    • George Borg - now he was a character. Both terrifying and endearing, often in the space of 5 minutes. Entertaining times back then!
