Apparently the Spice Girls were supposed to reform and play before Pink Floyd. Roger said that he wasn't happy with that. So the show ended The Who/Pink Floyd/McCartney as opposed to The Spice Girls being in that mix somewhere. A reformed Spice Girls were deemed bigger than solo Robbie, who was on before The Who.

I think they made up some bullshit that Mel B was stuck in LA or something.

Basically, Roger convinced Geldof not to book them as he wanted Pink Floyd to be the big "comeback act".

REM, Manic Street Preachers (at their record-selling peak), and ........ Skunk Anansie !?!?!?

so, maybe it was Fun Lovin Criminals who were the 'real' headliner then? who else played that sunday?

Roger Waters in 2002 was surely the closest thing to a '4th headliner' that Glasto has had in the modern era (last 25 yrs)? He seemed to get more acknowledgement than any other act (inc the 3 headliners) in the weeks leading up to the festie, and had a 2-hour time slot, which was even longer than Rod's allotted 90 mins.

So you thought you might like to go to the show ...

[1st show 2010 - best viewed full size on youtube]

Ooooo, can almost feel that space cadet glow ... and no doubt will do in May next year as it looks rather like it's going to be somewhat toasty warm down in Block A

In The Flesh - one of the best gig openers ever - but can't see this coming to a Pyramid Stage near me again, unfortunately :( Will be keeping me eyes open for Hyde Park Calling announcements mind you. Always up for a kinda repeat performance of 2006 :)

What about if the show was done in the style of Spinal Tap........

A very small lego wall erected round Roger's feet as he plays........

I am a fan btw, but couldn't resist.

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
