I meant Leeds/Reading generally as one festival. I went to Leeds 2003-2008 and the yobish attitude and Sunday night fires in 2008 were unreal. A couple I was with, who have been going to festivals for years, actually left our camp at 4 in the morning as the full camp was looked like a war zone. As they left they said yellow bubble was ablaze. I just dont get why people think thats a good way to finish a weekend of amazing music.

We all pay the same for the privalege to go to these festivals, the least we can do is treat the places and each other with respect.

Im def not saying its all newbies or just newbies but there is a sense, and trust me ive seen it with my own eyes at Leeds, that it is younger kids, sometimes egged on by older kids, thinking that been out of order to others or destroying things is the "cool" thing to do. Im sorry if I sounded like I was taring everyone with the same brush. Look at yourself though, just like myself, you choose Glastonbury as your first full festival and im guessing now you have a sense of how a festival, as well as fellow festival goers should be.

The trouble with R/L and V is that a large proportion of the people that go are the kind of people that go to Glastonbury, behave like knobs and we'll end up bitching about them on here. So I guess whilst they might be in a minority at Glastonbury they seem to be in the majority at R/L which leads to an unpleasant atmosphere which then just gets worse as the weekend goes on and comes to a head on the Sunday night.

To be fair its been a few years since I went to Leeds but the lasting impression I got was its populated mostly by kids who are away from Mummy & Daddy for the first time so they go a bit mental. I guess its mostly just down to youthful enthuiasm and going cold turkey from their daily Hollyoaks fix.

Its the same with Leeds/Reading as well, not wanting to sound old but the new generation of festival goers are absolute nobs with no respect for anyone or anything. I went to my first Glastonbury in 1999 when I was 17, only the second festival id ever been to, and it gave a great sense from a young age of what a great festival atmosphere should be like and how you should treat each other.

Completely wrong. Me and my mate are both 17 and we went this year and had a great time talking to randomers and helping them out and we never caused any trouble for anyone. I think there are some trouble makers out there though for example on facebook I saw few statuses of people saying they were going to reading just to "Get lashed", but they were probably just bigging themselves up.

There is a small minority of people my age that go deliberately to cause trouble and these people are usually the ones that get noticed but I can assure you that there are some good festival goers of that age group just looking to have a great time watching great bands and soaking up the great atmosphere as other posters have already stated :)

I won't bother you with those most annoying out-of-the-blue "is it xxxxx?" responses to this, but... i beg to ask the just-as-annoying question of how long will this next bout of 'more digging' likely be? a few hours? before or at some point during the weekend? or at some point later on in september?

It's impossible to say - I have feelers out in many directions, and when I get to hear something back is dependant on what those sources are able to find out and when.

I'm fairly confident that I'll know if they're right within a month at longest, but it might be the case that I hear something back today.

In the meantime, I'll give a clue. The name 'Jack' comes into things somewhere, but perhaps not where you'd think. :D

absolutely nothing to do with what I've posted above, but Kylie is currently in Glastonbury town doing some shopping.

I suspect there's good reason why she's in that part of the world, but it might not be anything to do with the festival - she played a gig in a pub (seriously!) down that way a few weeks ago, something to do with the boss of her record company.

Yeah it was on Points West News last week I believe. Her record label boss owns a pub there and only a selected few got invited

I don't believe he owns the pub - it certainly has its own Landlord/Landlady - but I think it's the case that he owns a house nearby.

The gig was arranged about 7 months before, and the Landlord/Landlady had had to keep quiet about it for all that time.

While the record company boss might have invited a select few, there were definitely locals who got to see it, by just going to the pub and discovering that Kylie was performing.

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
