If Rob Green was good enough for the world cup, you dont drop him complg just beneetely on the strength of one mistake - exactly as happened with Robinson previously. It would take a huge amount for him to progress knowing that he has the coach's confidence. What has Robinson done between not being good enough to go to the world cup and now being included in an England squad?

The point is he doesnt need to do anything, its quite possible that he could end up with the position by default. If your english and playing in the premiershp your not going to be too far from playing for the national team.

So hot off the heals of Robinson.....30 yr old Wes Brown has now also retired from international football.

What is it with modern footballers "retiring" from international duty, its rediculous.

Beckham is 5 years older than both of them, recently ruptured his achillies tendon, is playing in America and would still give his all to put on the England Jersey.

Am i alone in thinking you should play for your country until your country does not call for your services anymore.

Barcelona midfielder Xavi insists Cesc Fabregas's stay at Arsenal could only be temporary. The Gunners captain, subject to speculation regarding a move to the Nou Camp, revealed last week he would remain at the Emirates. Xavi said: "We've given up on the idea of him arriving now but maybe he'll come in January when Arsenal are out of the Premier League race. They can't just hold him against his will."

After things like that, I don't think there's an agreement in place for him to move next year.
