if you're not really into your music (aka Radio One is your source of discovering bands) then you won't know who The Flaming Lips are

none of the people i'm going with know who they are (so if U2 pull out i'm gonna have a hard time convincing my friends to come see them with me)

they're a huge huge band with music lovers, but outside of that they're fairly obscure. not your typical household name, if you will

I've seen the Lips twice.

Once at Glasto 2003 and once at Electric Picnic 2005.

They were both superb gigs - Wayne Coyne is an amazing entertainer and he loves Glasto.

If they did DSOTM - even better !

I'm in my 30's now and have very little time for the DJ's and most of the music they play but to say that if you listen to Radio 1 you're not into music is just bollocks.

God forbid if they scrap the licence fee and only put commercial radio on.
