Of course there are literally dozens of brilliant people performing and I agree with heaps of your selections... but these are the five that I'll make it my business to see most of.

1. U2 (though i'll be at the Solly Bar from just before Willie Nelson onwards on Friday seeing everyone)

2. Dr. John

3. Grizzly Bear

4. Stevie.

5. Holy F*ck

Muse

(honorable mention/tie for 5th) Stevie Wonder/Jackson Browne

You mean my inclusion of Muse? Or the contrast with them and Stevie and the 'wife beater'?

I have to see Muse. While I'm not a massive fan overall of their records, I just love their live shows. I have a weakness for power trios (a longtime Rush fan from back in the day, me), and Muse are the sort of band who can just blow anyone away live. You think back to Woodstock for example and how the running order wasn't finalized, in terms of the The Who vs. Hendrix, and how Pete Townshend was saying to Jimi Hendrix "we're not playing after you!". I think Muse are that type of band, which is why they headline festivals in the US even though their fanbase or record sales there would not justify them being top of bill. They are that good live, and even the Americans know it. I missed the '04 set (horrible mistake) and I just need to see Muse once at Glastonbury. They're in a tough spot, as '04 seemingly can't be topped, especially as that show made their career and secured them as Wembley Stadium-worthy. They haven't exactly put out better records since, and the extra gimmickry can only take away from what they are, which is a truly powerful rock trio. Them Crooked Vultures would have been nice beforehand, eh?

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
