Saturdays World Cup Game?

I just don't think I could handle missing a game of that magnitude (Sad I know) :P

For me personally its not the strongest line up I've ever seen...really struggling to see why the Sissor Sisters are playing 2nd top on the Saturday for example!

What's your hunch feeling on a potential knockout game? Will they show it - if so where and I really hope its not something I'm going to have to make sure I'm in a tent 2 hrs before kick off to make sure I can see it!

My gut reaction is that it'll be shown. Quite where I don't know.

Pyramid - it'd be a bit cheeky to stop the bands just for the football.

Cinema - too small if it's where it was last year.

Somewhere else? Flagtopia? Screens scattered around the site?

It's a tricky conundrum.

Think the tba's scream that it'll be shown on the pyramid. If we get through, Scissor Scissors to play earlier in the day straight after Seasick Steve. If we don't get through/come 2nd in group (so play sunday afternoon), then acts playing elsewhere over the weekend will do a second set/the sunday afternoon acts shift to saturday etc.

If they aren't showing it, I'll be attempting to get offsite and find somewhere that does.

If England were playing Germany then I would have to find a way to watch it and a lot of my mates would be the same. If this meant leaving the site then I would guess I'd have to do that. Now imagine if only 10% of the festival though the same, thats over 10,000 people trying to find local pubs to watch the game in and then get back to the festival.

I think Cinema tent and another screen setup somwhere

I've officially decided that whether or not it's being shown on the Saturday/Sunday, I won't be watching the match (if England get there). As much as I love footy, it's just plain sodding selfish to want the festival give up 2 1/2 hours of its programming. People have paid for their tickets to see bands performing. If people are that desperate to see a game that we might not even get to then return your ticket for a refund.

I'm watching it no matter what.

Potentially missing Ray Davies may be a bit of a pisser, but I prefer stuff like that in tents anyway which is why last year was so good.

There's f**k all I overwhelmingly want to see, then they decided to put Stevie Wonder/Levellers/Gomez on the same time at various places

I am a massive footy fan and I hope that they show Saturday match, if it even happens on the Pyramid, not that I will be anywhere near it.

It will draw 70,000 odd people away from the rest of the site for about 2 hours, there will be loads of room everywhere else, no queues at the Brothers Bar, although the cider bus will be a tad busy.

You have a pretty low opinion of people attending Glastonbury. It is not the same as your average football crowd. I'm sure there would be a huge audience for the England games and I'm just as sure that it would be a very well behaved and happy bunch of people too.

As to whether it should be shown on the Pyramd or not ....... well, I'm keeping out of that one!

Are you so naive as to think the entire glastonbury audience are saints?

There are tent robbings every single year, and a lot of other anti social acts as well. The ticket sales are open to everyone. Of course an unsavoury element will have bought tickets and will attend.

If England end up playing Germany (I absolutely pray they will be long out of the competition by then) then do you honestly think there will be none of that ridiculous chanting about the World Wars?

    • This!   Biffy Clyro I don't think would ever get asked, I just don't think it us their scene and it certainly wouldn't be a wise move for them after how the Finsbury Park show went. If they ever had a chance of regaining or staying a bit higher up taking Slam Dunk isn't how you do it. For the cost of it now I think being into the main headliner does make a difference though.
    • Sabrina I actually think is alright, but as an overall thing including Fontaines in the mix it does look very boring.
    • I went to the O2 show as had cheap NHS tickets. I did love the whole Machine Gun Kelly vs MGK Emo/Pop Punk stuff amusing and could see that show going down well. I thought it was so funny watching the video skits of a die hard old skool fan gradually morphing in to an Emo Kid. That show with less old Machine Gun Kelly tunes and more MGK Pop-Punk would be ace.   Pair him against a heavy act on the other stage and jobs a goodun,
    • Not sure if this is allowed, but I have an additional daily ticket which I’m willing to sell for a heavily reduced price. If you, or someone you know wants to go that day, but wouldn’t for the original price, let me know.    Edit: It’s for Friday
    • Couple of standing tickets left on ticketmaster if anyone is still trying
