I'm an 11 time Glasto Vet and I love all kinds of Music but my "first love" as far as music goes is Hard Rock/Heavy Metal and I have always felt that the heavier end of the musical spectrum has been sadly neglegted by Glasto. Yes I know there are Fests such as Download etc to cater for that end of the market but a big part of the beauty of Glasto is that you can come across just about every type and genre of music except, it would seem, the heavier end.

I think the likes of The Wildhearts, Therapy?, Motorhead or even Maiden or Metallica would not be that out of place at Glasto. Ok maybe having Slipknot or Slayer perform would be going a bit outside the "glasto vibe" but my point is there are plenty of heavier bands that could ft in and add to the "all roundness" of Glasto

Opinions?

I have pretty much the same music tastes as you in that area, and wouldn't want to see more of it at glasto at all. It's what other festivals are for, and always have been (how long's Reading being running now, alongside a summer line up with Glasto in it?)

Rocket from the Crypt played a while back, and were good fun. Deftones played the other stage (to a tiny crowd) and it didn't really work all. Have bumped into both Ginger and Rich from the Wildhearts there before now, and they've both said they wouldn't want to play.

Maiden could perhaps work as some camp comedy though.

But otherwise, nope, like to see those two sorts of fests do their own thing well rather than try and cater to all crowds.

I'd like to see a few more thrown in, nothing extreme on the main stages necessarily, but maybe a few heavier bands who could put a good show on. Lots of people say Metallica etc. but really I want to see some more Punk or at least see NOFX somewhere in a tent...

slipknot at times are nowhere near as heavy as metallica at times.

i'm sure slipknot could easily pick a setlist to be a bit less 'scary' to glasto punters. will never happen though sadly.

i just hope for another great download line up and i'll experience that instead.
