most disappointing performance at glasto

caught massive attack on the other stage as well and agree it wasnt the best, however i've since seen the performance on dvd and it comes accross much better than it felt it would standing 100 metres away from them on stage !

had a laugh the next morning, the sentiment about them being poo was obviously not just my opinion as the t-shirt shop opposite had some specially printed t-shirts proclaiming "why were massive attack so shi* last night" bit like this years "i was at glasto when jacko died"

I predict noone is going to agree with me but Madness last year didn't excite me really. I went cause my Mr Madspaceangel wanted to go and I left half way through. I just couldn't get into it, something didn't feel right.

I forgot about Massive Attack. Man they were truly abysmal! Was so pissed off. Had always loved that band but that just turned it for me!

Missed Jay Z as a result but heard that wasn't actually as good as everyone said!

Most surprisingly good act was the Maccabees in the Guardian tent last year. Amazing and been hooked on them ever since! Hoping they get a slot this year.

What act has surprised others?

Oasis in 1995 for me.

Was really into them at the time & was so so disappointed. Boring to watch & dire sound. Put me off them completely. Walked off halfway through to catch the last part of an absolutely amazing Prodigy set...was gutted. :P

Just to pick up on a couple of points.

1. Were Oasis in 2004 that bad? I am/was quite an Oasis fan but having seen them before I decided to go elsewhere (watched The Chemical Brothers on the Other Stage). Looked at the set on youtube and it doesn't seem that bad?

2. Prodigy last year, got within 30 yards of the barrier on the left hand side and had a wicked time, sound was booming although must agree all the "wheres my warriors" stuff was a bit rubbsih. They kept saying the same at Reading a few weeks later. Seems that most complaints are about how low the volume was - surely that's not the bands fault?

I think one of the worst perfomances was Morrissey in 2004 for me.

Although worst Festival perfomance of all time was Red Hot Chilli Peppers at Reading 2007 - f**king woeful.

Yes, introducing songs and then pausing for 30 seconds before playing them.

Example

Liam: "Live Forevah"

Crowd "Yayyyy"

Silence for 30 seconds

Then the drum into.

Like, what the f**k? Ever heard of momentum at a gig?

They've been shouting "all my Voodoo people" for 10 years so the Warriors is a nice change! Also, a Prodigy gig is never the same for me unless you're up the front. You cant "watch" them.

:P

:P

Well whatever the case, he may be quick, but it sure as hell works! ;)

Yep..........and thought it was a great gig!!!..........granted I was ploughed, but we just went mental for the whole set with the dancing and then when Bobby got cut off and threw the stand into the crowd.........well that made us all giggle!! Happy Happy Glasto memory is the Scream in 05 for me!

Have to agree with Fleet Foxes - really was a bit boring really, even though the setting was perfect.

Also agree with Kasabian last year - which is surprising considering i'd add Arctic Monkeys 2007 into the mix, as they were blown away by....yes, Kasabian before them.....

The worst set I've seen though - not that I was expecting it to be good per se, but ironically jaunty - Status Quo last year. Man alive, that was a tedious affair waiting for "the hits"....

Fleet Foxes for me. I suppose it's partly because I was looking forward to them so much but putting them on after N*E*R*D was the dumbest scheduling ever and really took the edge off. The band appeared overawed by the whole thing and didn't put a decent set together IMHO.

Ian Brown....no not the bloke who makes all those fab records but the one who always turns up to pretend he made all those fab records.....once listened to him murder happy birthday at Big Love, we may have been spannered but we weren't that spannered....

Pronghorn at Club Dada last year. Thought it would be a good starter for the festival, but left half way through (along with most of the back of the tent) bored s**tless.
