They didn't actually. When Hitler was made Chancellor they only had 32% of the popular vote, which ahd declined from 38% the previous election.

The only time Hitler ever stood personally in a free election in the 1932 presidential election he got 12% of the vote.

As for muse setlist; I'd expect quite a lot of the past two albums over the old personally, as they won't want to replicate the 2004 setlist.

Gotta be a difficult job headlining again, as comparisons will always be made to 2004 and I'd argue would need to change it up; eg. similar to radiohead's 2003 to the 1997 where played 10 new, 9 the same.

Thirdly, The Rolling Stones have sold more records and filled more stadiums than Muse, and I am quite sure they are British.

stones yea, in 1932... Saw the stones 2 years ago and they were shocking. Think they'd definately struggle to sell out as many dates at wembley as muse. And anyone choosing to go to a gig like this would have a really big dissappointment. Soleless and just 'going through the motions'

And think about record sales nowadays. Look at last.fm for play counts on ipods and PC's. Pretty sure muse have higher than stones.... And of Muse being modern times, where records and CD's are easier available, im pretty sure you're wrong about that too.

And take that arent a band really are they? Barlow does piano buyt thats about it.

I can see why you wouldn't accept Last.fm if you refuse to accept record and ticket sales as a measure of success but out of curiosity, what do you see as successful?

Oh, and your own personal taste is not a mesaure of success BTW. I'm not defending Muse or Take That or whoever, I can't stand Westlife for example but I can't deny that they're successful.

Personally? -band's who have stood the test of time and earned a reputation. Along with the record sales. Don't get my wrong, i'm not a big fan of U2, at all, but i haven't once slagged them for their headline spot at Glasto, it'd be stupid too. Because no matter what people say about them, they've been around since 1977 [i think], and have more than earned such a slot as this one.

But i think judging artists on sell out tours and arena slots is compeltely unreliable - the xfactor tours sell out all over england, are these credible to music? Joe Mceldry will probably go platinum with that winning track, along with all the other has beens.

I'm not saying every band who headlines as festival should have as much cultural baggage as u2, or be as long running as the rolling stones or the who - but for the main headliner at Glastonbury's 40th annivarsary, surely Muse is majorly underwhelming, baring in mind what i've said my OPINION is on bands success.

Stevie Wonder, i'm a fan, and i will enjoy his set, and I don't think it can be argued with putting him on.

I don't get this main headliner nonsense at all really, its a tradition thats been broken several times before, imo from looking at past line ups Stevie Wonder seems the best choice for sunday (Locals, more oldies on the pyramid). U2 is purely down to there schedule but what a way to start?! With Muse right in the middle, you could argue they are going to be ignored a bit like the middle child really.

And really, not everyone there is above the age of 25 and wants legends every night. Its the festival of Contemporary Performing arts remember . Although I would have loved Pulp but Jarvis and his band don't want to get back together...the same with lot of suggestions in preference to muse.
