i'd be gutted if we lost trash city. it was my favourite part of the festival. it wasn;t that overcfrowded. the best thing to do was to get in a little bit before the crowds and find one of the many wicked clubs to have fun in all night. i did that and it was the best night of my life on the friday.

having said that, i do trust in their ability to replace it with something just as good/probably even better.

having said THAT though. i'd be surprised if they got rid of it, what would they do with all the buildings, etc? seems lke a bit of an unneccessary hassle/waste of money.

This is all confusing me, I thought SL was expanding. Presuming both TC and SL are there next year, surely they can't both expand, where are they going to go? I can't see as there is any more room for them. Maybe knock the camping in the field behind arcadia on the head?

Yes TC is nice to look at but that is all you can pretty much do cos you cant get in anywhere cos of the London-like f**k off queues to get into the clubs. WHAT is that all about???

Outdoor soundsystems...keep it simple, accessible and easy...remind me why Arcadia works so bloody well eh?! :P:P Its a good thing Arcadia getting even more space....it's an OUTDOOR rig, everyone can then get the chance to party alongside it instead of getting pissed off with the exclusivity that is the set up in Trash City (and tbh most of SL too...but at least there's enough to do otherwise to keep your brain happy there).

There was never any problems with over crowding or crushes when we were allowed to party at any and every soundsystem on site throughout the market and rest of fest.

With the numbers now rising year after year to near impossible levels, the idea that forcing between 50-100,000 people all looking for a party to a tiny area of the site and then only offering MORE queues to get into so-called 'clubs' is firkin ridiculous if you ask me!

Bring back partying and open air soundsystems throughout Babylon...you know it makes sense!

we found last year a good way to avoid the queues and crowds was to go a little later, after 2 am when the crowds have died down a little. we'd stop off en route in the greenfields (croissant neuf was always good for late evening activities) and stop off at every bar on the way. the late night areas are open and serving till 6 so there's plenty of time, unless you have to sleep, but that's cheating.

or as Luscious Lucy says above, bring back the soundsystems! i used to love that old flat back truck they had in the middle of the markets with nothing but speakers on it for late night entertainment.

Ashamed to say I never made it to TC or SL at nightime last year (my 1st year), nor did I touch the fence furthest from my tent. This was mainly down to being in a mess and partying back at the tents so I am determined to get down there this year, might pop down during U2.

Expanded SL but no specific mention of Trash City in Emily's latest interview.

What else are you busy with?

This week, we've been working on the Shangri-la area. We're opening that out a bit. It's going to be expanded into field called Clapps Ground which is behind it. The plan is that it's going to be much easier to get into in 2010. There will be multiple entry points, but it will also be more spread out, so that more people can get down there and enjoy it.

So, do you look at problems from the previous Festival and try to address them?

Absolutely. The stuff that's going on down there is really incredible and most people want to get over there, particularly after hours. I was caught in one of those jams on the railway line this year and it's not great. It's pretty uncomfortable and it's not very nice having someone shouting, "Stick to the left!" So we're hoping to avoid all of that by opening it out. And Shangri-la's plans for the area itself are, once again, looking pretty incredible.

They're already in full-swing with planning?

Yeah, we've been looking at plans and new ideas. And the Arcadia lot were down yesterday discussing all kinds of crazy plans. We're going through a lot of that planning at this point. We're also talking about doing something to mark the 40 years. There are lots of ideas flying around, but we want it to be something which everyone can access. So possibly something in the air.

as much as i loved trash city. i so wholly trust them to put on something which will in all likelyhood be even better this year, i think i'm just going to stop worrying about it and enjoy whatever they've done when i get there to be honest.

its going to be so good. i shouldn't be this excited about glasto when its christmas tomorrow :P

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
