I think its going to be Muse that is annouced before the end of the week. They have just put tickets on sale for a tour next year.. in September!! to me that sems very early to put your tickets on sale unless you want to sell it out before announcing glasto..

Seen U2 before and the music was great but Bono was preeching far too much.

I hope they play a greatest hits set which is mainly from achtung baby and before rather than a load of new songs

I reckon Chemical Brothers are touring in 2010 so i think they will play the other stage, would like it if they and U2 clashed but i suppose they are more likely to be sunday.

(Went to see them DJ on Friday and they have new material)

U2 has now been confirmed form multiple sources, not just The Scum. According to an unofficial Glasto website:

A source said "Everyone is over the moon that the deal has been done.

Michael really wanted a huge name for the 40th anniversary and the fact U2 have never played Glastonbury in their 32-year career only adds to the mystique.

In fact Eavis has been asking them for a while now and really stepped up the effort this year. This could be an iconic moment."

Michael Eavis said, "The 26-year-old rumour has finally come true. At last, the biggest band in the world are going to play the best festival in the world! Nothing could be better for our 40th anniversary party. And there are even more surprises in the pipeline."

If eavis doesn't provide the stones i will be f**king gutted, u2 are w*nk and there's no way that's an equal headliner for neil young playing friday last year.

and all these springsteen nay-sayers, suck a dick, he's the greatest live performer in the world, and i don't even think the mighty stones could top his performance this year.

but give me the stones, dylan, bowie [providing he provides old stuff] and a few smaller tent headliners [roger mcguin eg:], and ill forgive the mighty eavis for dropping the ball on this ...

Apart from Sunday Bloody Sunday I can't stand U2 so I'm a bit dissapointed by this news. But on the plus side it reduces the chances of clashes and gives me more time to explore the site. I don't tend to watch mainstage headliners at festivals very often anyway
