I don't think they have, the Glasto site said they played the Pyramid but that's since been removed (think Neil informed them of the mistake?)

Seem to remember reading they offered to play for free in 2007 but there was no space. Eavis apparently thinks they're music for children or something along those lines, Sunday Pyramid headliner for 2010 it is then :P

wasn't it the opposite of that? i thought they asked to play and asked for a ridiculous fee also?

they don't seem like the kind of band to do much for free they have become quite the money grabbers in recent years, i loved this band before they cleaned up kicked the drugs and totally went to shit!

they are just rock and roll pantomime these days and performance by numbers as they proved with their god awful headline set at reading a couple of years back which saw people streaming off in droves.

John do another generic riff while Flea plays porn soundtrack style slap bass and then Keidis will reel off a load of rhyming words that make no sense whilst thrusting his groin all over the f**king shop.

well it's not fair saying they are awful band or an awful live band. They have some great albums, and yes some real duds, but a some real classics. And they arent always awful live. Reading 07 was very terrible. But they have been working none stop for over 20 years, a bit of a decline will happen. But they have had some really great gigs... their live albums is ratehr good.

why is it unfair? their last good album was 18years ago and live they have always been dreadful. not musically (they can certainly still rock) but Kiedis' voice just doesn't cut it. even on live dvd's, where they had the opportunity to polish out any lack of power in his voice, his vocals are so piss poor its shocking....

so please Mr. Eavis, don't book them.

i've seen them quite a bit having been a fan since around 1987 and i can honestly say these days they are just a guttless emotionless money grabbing musical pantomime act.

everything is the same and predictable and just empty and meanignless, it's painting by numbers in concert form, this is the bit where flea and john go back to back topless and jam for 10 minutes, the same jam they have played at every other gig on the tour, whilst they do this Keidis takes his positions standing up on the drum doing that hand moving hip thrusting dance he does.

it's just bloody awful and souless.

the best way i can sum them up is by saying some bands feel honoured coming to a town/city to play for you.

the red hoit chili peppers think you should feel honoured for getting to go to see them.

they are one of only a handful of bands i know of that will only do presales via a paid membership club which has the presale offers as it's main draw and the membership costs afortune and is plugged shamlessley on their website. (or was when they were touring)

they act like they are as big as huge groups like U2 etc but they've just not had the same success assuch bands

i'ts so sickening when i think of the band i fell in love with over 20 years ago as a kid to see them evolve into this thing we have now.

how did this:

    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
