Muse Stadium Tour

I have just been told that Muse are doing another stadium tour in the summer by someone who was at the 02 last night, apparently an e-mail has gone around to the Muse mailing list and pre-sale is on Wednesday.

Anyone on here know about this? Wondered if it might rule them out for Reading a bit like Green Day!!

Hmmm.... if this is true they seem unlikely. This throws the headliner "pool" into diseray a bit. The festival(s) they are rumoured to be playing will probably be Glasto, and there's a slim chance V or maybe Sonisphere will snap them up (though TITP and Oxegen are probably what they're referring to), from what I can gather, in terms of bands with universal appeal that are automatic headliners that pretty much leaves Foo Fighters and AC/DC (who will probably do Dowload if they decide to finally do fests), unless I'm forgetting someone.

Headliners will probably be from: Kasabian, Blink 182, My Chemical Romance (starting to actually look like a possibility :P ), Pearl Jam(?), erm... can't think of any more.... Any bands looking like reforming? :P

Pushing the boat out a bit maybe someone like Ozzy Osbourne? Appeals to this daft celebrity culture, so would probably draw a crowd... though he's unlikely to accept unless they call it Reading and Leeds in association with Ozfest or something. also there's Linkin Park and Blur (or did they break up again?)

Other than that I really can't think of any more headlining possibilities!

I think this definitely rules them out!

Headliner possibilities not looking great...I'm expecting Linkin Park to appear. Kasabian seem more likely too, since sales of their arena tour has been successful, and by the looks of the videos on YouTube they're putting on a good show, will see for myself on Monday though.

the muse shows will have prob sold out by the time the reading line up gets announced so its possible they could still play reading as its the week before these shows.also, the support bill for the muse shows will surely be a good shout for reading as well.

T and Oxegen don't count because they're in different countries to R/L

Not quite true. It depends what's meant by 'exclusive'.

The Reading & Leeds press releases might (and do, depending) state "UK exclusive" or "English exclusive".

As I understand it, they try to ensure that at least two of their headliners each year are at least an 'English exclusive'. But things like this very much depend on which bands are available for any summer, and what those bands might already be committed to.

The only band that as far as I know headlined Reading & Leeds the same summer as doing a UK Stadium tour was Oasis back in 2000...but all there stadium shows were sold out well in advance of them being announced for R&L...I can't see Muse playing R&L just 2-3 weeks before their own Stadium shows...I think if anything you'll now be looking at Muse for R&L in 2011 and perhaps the final shows for The Resistance touring..like how they did for V in 2008 and ending the Black Holes & Revelations touring.

    • First thing I saw on socials today were people talking about Limp Bizkit spending most of their set dicking about, does not surprise me.
