When your in a crowd and you get people pushing ther way to the front do you mind?

Do you think its acceptable to make your way to the front if you say sorry or thank you after?

Yeah. The hazey area is when the band are on (if it's dione before then fair enough). But if the band are on, and there's a lot of jumping about, I think it's fine to move into another space.

Annoys me to no end sometimes especially when the first person is like Can I just get to my friend shoves past and then theirs about 10 of them pushing past.

Or the other thing when people insist on getting in front of you for that one song they know , get in right in front of you, start acting a prat and then runs back to the bar straight after.

to be honest I dont really feel the need to be up the front anymore. if the set is in a tent as long as I'm in the tent I'm happy. I dont mind to much people going in front of me as I'm fairly tall. however when people are just rude and push I'm not overly happy. the other thing that annoys me is when people decide to push in front of you or get a space for a band during the band before and really are not intrested in what is going on. prime example is Reading last year the tent was banging for Justice half way through the set the bullet for my valentine fans showed up and started a moshpit amongst everyone dancing around having fun.

its very annoying when there's a party of people shoving past rudely before the bands,and getting leaned on!!.lol.

depends if your bothered about where you are in the crowd i think, im not a fan of shoving into people to get further forward, just wait till crowd naturally moves,or if there's space to get closer but not behind some tall bugger!.

its not like a queue as such so you cant really push in,there's no assigned place you have to be in or any place you don't have a right to get into in the crowd.

i don't mind if people are polite and don't decide to just stop in front of others and block their view.

lots of the time they're not pushing to the front they are going to or returning from the bar/toilets and just trying to get back to their friends, i am always overly polite and apologetic when doing this as i am quite big and feel liek a pain in the arse trying to pick my way back to friends.

it is annoying when you get an endless line of people doing it though and your section suddenly becoming a bloody entrance/exit route, but again my size come as an advantage here as i can just refuse to give way and tell them to go another way if it gets ridiculous, people rarely argue

Before a band is on I think it is fair game. People are leaving to go somewhere else and people are coming to see a band they want to see. As long as everyone is polite.

During the band I find it quite annoying, I arrived early to get the space I wanted, however if people are polite and don't use the my friend is there then lead 15 people past fair enough.

Its when they are rude stand only stay for that one song, or you get a group of people who have no interest in the band and just talk, shout and generally take loads of photos stiking cool and wacky poses, no doubt to show to finds and say how cool are we. Now they do my head in. Rant over.

I might talk to my mates a little bit, I do take a few photos but most of the time I am dancing my arse off and singing along. In other words I have an interest in whats is going on, on the stage.

I'm fairly tall so I try to be aware of the folks around me and not specifically block anyone. (As a Glasto virgin, I'm using my experience here in the States as my point of reference.)

More than people pushing in front of me are the people who insist on carrying on a conversation RIGHT BEHIND me. If you want to talk to your friend like you're in your living room...then STAY HOME AND TALK. If you have to yell so very loud, it might be a small clue that the music is playing and you should shut up and listen, dance...hell even sing if you must (hopefully you're actually good AND know the words)...

But, I DON'T want to hear your collected wisdom (usually wrong) about the band.

I recently had a loud-mouthed idiot nearly ruin a Mavis Staples show for my wife and I with his racist and idiotic patter over a series of songs from the Civil Rights movement in the 60's.

Then, he kept right on talking, out shouting Leon Russell; and then on through BB King amongst other things commenting on BB's "LES PAUL guitar"....which opened him up to a fair amount of mocking within our group for his complete cluelessness.

Push past if you must...but quietly please...(rant over)...

ok, so some may consider this really rude.

we're in limboshire and can see bugger all............... we are with a bit of a posse and the band are about to start and we have 2,3,or 4 children in tow. so we all hold hands in a chain with the children on the shoulders of the frontmost adults.we then head RIGHT TO THE FRONT. anyone in the way is accosted by a child's muddy wellie at face height. they politely move out of the way and on we go. it really works.

the children then get passed around our collective shoulders so they have a bird's eye view but we usually have a few buckets with us for the children to stand on if we get tired. too close to the front and we have to rely on shoulders , as buckets don't work !

before anyone says that that is unfair to the children.....................................................ask 'em

People wanting to get on tv was my biggest pet hate of glasto.

But yes, I generally let people past if they're nice about it. I can't say I really noticed it being a problem at glasto. Except maybe the kasabian/bruce layover when scores of bruce fans tried to get to the front, assuming kasabian fans would be leaving. which they weren't.

Also, was incredibly glad i was at the main stage from madness onwards on the sunday, would NOT have liked to have negotiated the second barrier once nick cave came on, that looked horrible.

but yes, the worst circumstances for this have always been at leeds for me.

Its unfair to the people behind you with your human extension, oh that goes for them girls who want to get on tv and get on peoples shoulders to!(I know some of you are just short arses and want to see, but you can tell the ones wanting to get on tv)

Generally found the attitude of everyone down the front spot on all weekend! apart from watching bloc party , we got stuck behind some reel Arseholes, who were just stood still life less , me and my mate both big rugby lads politley asked them if we could come through as only 5 metres ahead is where the crowd was really into it an bounceing like mad ! They told us to f off as we should of come earlier, anyway we were polite and just had a dance there behind them , after two songs they turned and told us to stop danncing and singing as we were pissing them off??? , in the end we just barged through them as the bloke was a little tosser, and had a great laugh with like minded people just ahead , don't mind people not letting us through but to try and stop us haveing fun too bloody little hitler ! That was the only person with any negative attitude I encountered the whole 5 days,little people with a chip against big guys

Some uptight characters here. It's a gig! I don't see how it inconveniences you if people want to get by. You don't own the land and providing they don't stand right in front of you and are actually seeking space as opposed to taking yours then what is the problem? As has already been mentioned, it is usually just people who have been the toilet or the bar and need to find their friends. It is difficult enough trying to find one's friends in a massive crowd without worrying about upsetting the so called revellers because you need to squeeze past them.

If your worried about this it might be an idea too stand nearer the back as it's possible you're too old.

If they are polite and arent too pushy then why the hell not. We all have our bands we'd die to see and if people are that desperate then who am I to stop them! Its Glastonbury, as long as they all keep the love and friendliness up

i have experienced both sides of this topic lol, during bloc party on the other stage this year it was that cramped that everyone was touching just standing still and people were still trying to get to the front that was annoying, and at prodigy on the sunday (there must of been some problem with the volume) we couldnt hear much from where we were and 2 blokes were chatting very loudly to everyone in a 10 metre radius due to the speed and beans they were taking but other than that people were mostly polite or apologetic about it which didnt bother me too much

I like being in the front row so people can't really shove in front (though they still try). Of course, it's not always possible, especially at larger stages.

I was at the front barrier for a good 5 hours a couple years back... something I've rarely done... and it was great fun... the only thing that spoiled it were a couple of irritating teenage girls who kept repeatedly begging to be allowed through to the barrier. They has a perfect view and there was no other problem, they just wanted.... what they wanted. They appeared to have little idea of what was going on onstage.. so it seemed to be purely about getting to the front for the sake of it. Very irritating. And they thought they were being sweet, funny and amusing rather than just genuinely pissing everyone else off but everyone was too polite to actually tell them!
