Sorry folks... but they really shouldn't show this at Glasto.

If it was the final, then fair enough, it would be a great occassion. But it's a 2nd round match and hope the organisers do not show this on one of the main stages.

It would clearly cause a lot of havoc with the line-up given there is no way of knowing till the week of the festival when the game will be.

I think they should just come out now and say 'folks, we're not showing this, if you want to see it you will need to make your own arrangements'

Ahh, the old World Cup chestnut!

Well, those who dont have tickets, maybe you'll get lucky cos there may be some diehard numpties who just have to get their tix refunded cos they cant bear to miss the footie! :P

That Sat/Sun draw, well if ME can convince U2 to play maybe he can have talks with FIFA to make sure that the game is arranged for a convenient 5pm slot eh???! Any later than that and there may be problems.

Although, the 7pm clash on the Saturday back in whatever year it was (98?) went ahead but it meant that James refused to go on until the game was played/over and loads of us buggered off to watch Rolf in the Acoustic not bothered by the footy...a far better option especially as we lost to Romania anyway I seem to recall! And the heavens opened whilst it was being shown.

Just wait and see and dont fret. Eavis will sort something safe and sensible. Try not to harp on about it for the next 7 months... :P

OK...so in 98 we apparently beat Columbia and then James went onto play on the Pyramid. As I said I was busy watching Rolf...not bothered about the footy.

Buggered off from the fest to go see Orbital play up at Brixton Academy when the Euro madness happened at 04! :P

Come to think of it...not ever really been bothered about the World Cup outcomes at Glasto apart from 02 when I did (yes...) take a mini tv in case the game wasnt shown but we were knocked out just before the fest. There were silent shots of Brazil v whoever it was shown for about half an hour during set up before Rolf played that legendary Pyramid performance.

thing is if it isn't shown then there will be alot of people leaving the site to go watch it and then coming back. This will cause havoc

I'm not one to count my eggs before they hatch, but with a group like ours, there has to be a 95% chance we'll finish top. Which i believe, would mean we play on the Saturday night. I think there will be many, like myself, who can't think of anything better than a England win followed by a Glasto headliner!

I hope if they show it on the Main Stage there aren't a stupid amount of flags blocking the screens.

I'm late to the party here so if I'm repeating what someone else has said then I apologise.

I reckon they will have to show it somewhere or there will be a significant proportion who will leave site to see it locally, which will in turn piss off the locals and lead to the Eavis' getting all kinds of shit.

But, given that odds have to be on the Saturfay 7:30 slot, how do you satisfy both the football and non-football fans? Out of 150,000 or so, I reckon that (depending on which act is on) there will still be a good few thousand who would want the experience of seeing England at Glasto.

I don't remember seeing it but a mate assures me that the Rugby was being shown this year on a big screen near the Circus Tent. Perhaps with a few of those at strategic places near decent sized open areas you could do it, but I think you'd still struggle to satisfy the demand.

Yep, the best festival on the planet too. Seriously if anyone's worried about this they'd maybe be better giving up their ticket.

If they cancel any bands because of these mincers thou, I wont be chuffed.

    • Wow, way to insult the guy.
    • yougov seems to be the outlier when it comes to the Burnham bounce. But also, being a bounce, it was never going to last, but with Reform maybe on the way down, and Tories holding steady, we could end up with Reform, Labour and Tories all between 20 and 25% for a while. A lot of it at moment with Burnham is vibes, and the vibes are currently sexy and are pulling support back from Greens, but the autumn budget is key...will they go big and bold, or will they do very little because they're thinking a 2027 general election?
    • Attended a gig at Piece Hall for the first time on Saturday (Opeth), the music was excellent. Just a couple of points on the organisation & the event itself. - Getting through the gates seemed to take longer than required. I was at the South gate about 30 mins before stated start time and still missed first half of Katatonia. - Coffee stall was serving cold coffee later on. - Lots of the crowd seemed to be more interested in chatting than listening to the music. Doubly annoying when sound levels for Opeth seemed quieter than Paradise Lost, is this usual for the venue due to curfew etc? Luckily there was enough room so I could move close to the front of the crowd and couldn't hear drunken chatter anymore 🙂
    • Tickets will just be sent out via email; going out next Monday 10th August apparently.
