Each of the main acts I wanted to see were outstanding but the one that got me the most was Neil Young - I was expecting a good set but this seemed to transcend greatness - I don't think I've ever seen such a perfect example of raw, unadulterated rock at Glastonbury. For me this was the best psychedelic guitar music on a big Glasto stage since Randy California in 1982.The bastard also had me choking back tears by playing Comes A Time in the acoustic segment- something I wasn't expecting and the line "lift that baby right up off the ground" immediately hit a nerve as my grandson William had been born exactly two weeks earlier. I was so high and dry after that set that I just went straight to bed.

My other highlights were Lady Ga Ga, Gong, Status Quo, The Boss, CSN, Status Quo, N.E.R.D and Deadmaus in east Dance

Blur were possibly the best thing Ive ever seen at a festival. Special mention also to The Specials, Gaslight Anthem, Dreadzone and The Lancashire Hotpots.

But my weekend was made by all my e fest friends - cheers guys and gals, its been emotional :P

Blur were amazing but my highlight was DJ Yoda in one of the dance tents, he was insane. I didnt think I would ever here Inspector Gadget mixed with Fresh Prince of Bel Air or a dub step Susanne Boyle!! The music was fantastic and the on screens videos were just as good.

Rolf comes a close second for me though, that was great fun for the first act of the day

2 many DJs were incredible! They mixed so many anthems which really got the crowd going, and the monty python esque animations synced to the music in the background really enhanced the performance in a number of ways.

One of the best electronic sets I have ever seen!

No question about it, The King Blues on the Queens Head stage, Florence and the Machine really surprised me, The Dead Weathers were amazing.

Although I left the Blur gig thinking it was only ok, I've been playing it over and over in my head all day and have upgraded it to a fantastic show, so that a delayed blow away I guess.

Deadmau5 followed by 2 Many DJ's was insane! Did everyone catch the naked guy on stage? Was hilarious!!

High Contrast was fantastic as well, just gutted that afterwards I stayed for Chase and Status as opposed to Prodigy or Blur due to my.......jaw condition.

My favourite time at the festival however was Sunday night around 2am outside the Broters Bar when it shat it down with rain. All my friends were under a blanket huddling together while I stumbled around trying to sing Freestyler and Paper Planes. :P

Bon Iver on The Other Stage :P absolutely mind blowing stuff. When he closed with Wolves and made everyone scream I almost shed a tear.

The Prodigy, although I seen that one coming. 3rd time seeing them and each time they just top everything off.

Bat For Lashes. Never listened to her before excluding Whats A Girl To Do, never really shown an interest but I've never disliked her. Wow. What a performer, will be getting her albums after seeing what shes actually capable of. Didnt even intend on watching her, was supposed to be at Madness but I couldn't be bothered moving. So so glad I didnt move now.

f**ked Up were absolutely mental, not the type of band I'd usually listen to but I'm so glad I decided to stay in John Peel. The lead singer was a total dude and got well into it.

Art Brut were amazing, so much energy and passion goes into Argos' performance and he's a witty f**ker too. Loved every minute of their set despite not being a massive Brut fan.

The Boxer Rebellion. I only just got into this band upon seeing that they were on the line up, the main reason i was up bright and early on the sunday. Amazing band, pretty grim the way the stage times were shuffled about because i only managed to get 15 mins of their set squoze in! Gutted, but what i heard was quality, hes got a great voice.

It was my first glasto and as probably all first timers, it took my breath away, i loved it all. I cant moan on about things i didn't like as opposed to other years. I saw some great bands, but the sole tear jerking moment for me was when i saw " The Mummers " at the Avolon stage on Sunday afternoon , a couple of hours before we left. My taste varied a lot, i loved seeing the Horrors, Doves, Jarvis, Kasabian ( gutted i missed Florence ), but the end song from the Mummers ( i love you Riassa ) was a song called "this is Heaven ", and it summed up my whole event, brought a tear to my eye! Check them out on Spotify.

Ray Davies, without a doubt. Persuaded to miss Neil and thanked my friend profusely afterwards. Most electric atmosphere I've ever experienced - there was a lot of love in that room.

Hotpots, Jarvis, Specials and Blur also rocked

    • Generally shorter too, I imagine. 🙂
    • Will that work for arenas with seats? People will have their tickets on their phones and needs to find their seat.
    • Excellent new release from overpass today - well worth checking out.
    • Having lived here for 2 and a half years now my take is that security, safety and organisation are just not a priority in Spain. It's not even exclusive to festivals. It's a part of everything.   Simple example. I'm Irish and in Ireland if you assemble a construction site you have to adhere to a lot of regulations about cordoning off the site so nobody can enter and get injured. Here, you're walking down the foot path and suddenly without any warning you're in a construction site. If not, you'll suddenly find yourself directed onto the road to get around the construction.   Life is more laid back here in general. Pros and cons.
