British Sea Power

Chances? I think they're actually pretty decent for the guys to play. They're doing V, which shows they're on the 'major' festival circuit this year. Also, they're performing their new 'album' at the Big Chill this year - it's a soundtrack to a 1930s film - Man of Aran.

My guess is that they might do a gig with the film projected behind them in one of the tents and maybe do a second gig which'll just be the usual Sea Power fare!

I thought they were pretty good in Leftfield on Sunday night last year.

That said, I had consumed a concoction of Gaymers, Diet Coke, ibuprofen and codeine in an attempt to stop the terrible pain in my back for long enough to pack up the tent, so I may have been, erm, less than reliable...

I saw them at the Brighton Corn Exchange, they were brillint but there was this end bit where they did an encore of no lucifer then just played a random wall of sound to the crowd and the lead singer lifted up the mic etc. If they left on No Lucifer then it would have been epic but because of that wall of sound your were kind of left just thinking "What the hell was that all about". I would see them again though, only if they play please stand up.

Cheers,

let me guess, you saw them in the john peel tent?

I saw them there too and they were dreadful. And I love them. I dont know what went wrong - I think it was totally the wrong slot for them.

I think they area band better on the albums than they are live. A shame as I want to love them live and I dont know why I dont.

Im the same. Got all their albums and love 'em especially the one with the bear on the front but seen em live about 4 times and theyve disappointed every time. Last time was in the JP last year.

Mind you I thgt the sound was very poor in that tent full stop. Hopefully it will improve this year.

Matter of preference possibly? I've seen BSP do some of the best live sets I've ever seen and I dont find them contrived. They have a vitality which is refreshing. Though I must say; as good as Phil the Horn is he's no match for Eamon.

I thought they were quite good last year, with the choir, but by no means as good as they could have been. BSP at Whelans in Dublin is up there battling it out for set of 2008 along with Mercury Rev at HydroConnect for me personally.

Bring on Brakes though.

(And hullo, this is my first post

well like I say I really love their albums but something hasnt clicked with me and them live.

Hopefully they will be there this year and if so I will definitely give them another shot.

Now Mercury rev on the otherhand....they NEVER disappoint. Sensational stuff

this really surprises me. they are one of my fave live bands!! the JP tent is shlte - I have always been dissapointed with bands in there the sound is rubbish. I saw them in Manchester last year and it was one of my highlights of the year!

I dunno, I was so pumped for them too. I wasnt that close to the front so maybe that was something to do with it.

I agree about the JP tent, I have seen very few unforgettable performances in there. One of the best I have ever seen was Delays in 2004. They were ace! I thought they were gonna be huge
