So, will the strong rumour become Confirmed?

Will you be happy? And where will they be?

Personally I can only see them as the sub headliner (as already discussed in that thread I think), because they're too big to be anywhere else. Probably under Arctic Monkeys if they are playing, which I'm pretty sure they are.

I wouldn't be too miffed if they were there. Not a massive fan of them but they're a good live band. I saw them at the Big Gig last year and they didn't impress me too much, but I think that's just because the Manics blew them away.

i know the line up hasn't fully come out yet. but the nature of tickets selling out is that i'm probably going to have to choose on the basis of what i know at the moment.

tbh, i think its very unlikely i'm going to reading this year. the headliners are the easiest bands they could have booked. radiohead are a great band, but i've seen them before.

the saturation of the festival market has got to a stage that there isn't really one particluarly strong festival in the uk this year. and in that case i'd rather go to something that has other stuff apart from bands. bestival and glasto it is for me i think.

this is the reason that TITP didn't sell out this year. i feel like sonisphere shook things up quite a lot this year. i know one of my mates is going to that and he's usually a reading man, as are his mates.

its a real shame, but it looks like i'm going to give it a miss this year.

i do think that the economic come down at the moment is going to have quite an effect on ticket sales this year. i wouldn't be surprised to see R/L sell out a lot slower this year. and i think that will be the case for a lot of festivals. its going to kill a lot of the newer/less competeive festivals off imo, probably quite a lot this year will get cancelled. its not looking like a strong year for individual line ups cos bands are getting so greedy with artists fees. i hope a few festivals do very well thius year and tbh, i hope a few go down the pan so it can settle back down and we can get some decent line ups again. the credit crunch is beginnign to hit everyone now and i don't think its fair that this shouldn't be passed on to the artists.relatively speaking they do very well. and a let up in some of the fees, and thus ticket prices perhaps, would surely be a good way of preserving the festival market for the future.

just visited a couple of other sites and they are all pissed off about kaiser chiefs and all agree that having three 'indie' headliners is crap.makes you wonder if FR have any idea about the general opinion.surely they realise the gulf between last year and this year.and dont blame other festivals, there were loads of festivals last year as well.why do they have to book exclusive acts, cant they ship in the likes offaith no more, korn, alice in chains or NIN to save the day.im sure the rockers amounst us wont complain that they've already played another festival and therefore ar'nt exclusive.

I can live with Kings of Leon playing - I quite like them. Never been an Arctic's fan and Kaiser Chiefs are something my mum likes so if they're the 3 headliners I'll be hoping for something very good on the other stages.

Although there's still time for the other acts to cheer me up - very gutted about Download line-up this year though I really want to go (stupid school holidays are always at the wrong time)

Seriously, though, after Oh my God I predict a Fry-up, the one good thing they had going for them as a band (well written verses combined with relevant, catchy choruses) dried up completely.

Right now the sole thing that's keeping them going is that their lead singer is the only indie frontman with the balls to slag off Noel Gallagher. Love Oasis or hate Oasis, (I'm no a fan but I can't deny their first two albums and Morning Glory especially were good) it's something that needed to be done.

    • Did anyone catch Viagra Boys last night? A rollicking good set, with a little more free jazz than I expected.   if you’re up early, Walabi is doing a super job in the Cupra Pulse. There till six.

    • They really dropped a bollock on their lineup this year. They went with Richard Ashcroft because he did well as Oasis support - But realistically, you're not getting 50k people in a field to hear the 4 or 5 songs they know at like £70+ a ticket. Can't get my head around the Kasabian booking, either. Finsbury Park was a bold move for them, and yes it sold out, but I think you're more likely to see people make the journey to London if they want to see them rather than Glasgow. A second similar capacity show was always going to be a big ask for them.
    • I remember my first visit to an ice hockey game in the States when the concept of a "TV time out" was explained to me. No effort to hide what it was by claiming it was for player welfare
