The Prodigy will play the main stage this year prior to Slipknot. I'm 99% sure Slipknot will headline the main stage this year. However there's still no word from MLK about the main stage headliners this year but with Pearl Jam not being available until September and all the other stadium acts doing their own arena or stadium shows this year I'm running out of options.

My guess for the main stage headliners would be The Killers, Slipknot, Placebo. Seemed hard to believe at first but there are no other acts available.

This is the line up according to British Rock

The Killers, Placebo, Marilyn Manson, Korn, The Prodigy, Limp Bizkit, Mando Diao, Slipknot, The Kooks, Bloc Party, Flogging Molly, Billy Talent, Kettcar, Killswitch Engage, Dredg, Juliette Lewis & The New Romantiques , Volbeat, Peter Fox, Scouting For Girls, The Subways, Tomte, Lamb Of God, Dragonforce, Bring Me The Horizon, Enter Shikari, Jan Delay, Polarkreis 18, The Kilians, Trivium, Selig

and yes I'd say Slipknot are definatly one of the headliners along with The Killers, not sure on the other

surely the prodigy are more likely to headline than placebo or slipknot? the killers i can believe are headliners. i'm still holding out for one more big band - although if its not guns n roses i haven't got a clue who that could be...

I think the Killers will Headline on the central stage whether we like it or not. Google them and see - They are the hot shit right now. According to Rolling Stones they have the best video and record for the year. Personally I don’t agree but who cares.

To me Slipknot will also close one night on the central stage. As it comes to the third big headliner I think Limp Bizkit or Manson. I really hope for Manson though.

Placebo will probably also play on the central but during the day… just like 2 years ago. I expect Prodigy on the Alternstage.

It's true we have 40 or more bands coming but i think we have all headliners here.

Damn they used to be so unpopular in Germany. And they suck. Big time.

Anyways, Manson will play on Alternastage according to rock-am-ring.de. I think they are trying to get one or more bigger bands to headline but they don't know whether they'll get one or not, hence us not knowing who's headlining.

Ok, I can accept that Slipknot will headline above the prodigy but Placebo surely aren't headline material? Even in 97 around Nancy Boy they weren't that big. Or was it different in Germany. They look quite high up on the novarock bill are they headliners there?

They were announced as Headliner at Novarock, but the Austrians are weird. Headliner in that case can mean headlining the 2nd stage as well, though.

Dunno about RaR. They didn't headline in 06, and didn't headline the following year at Hurricane, but I think they did headline the time they were at RaR before 06. Ig they doi headline it's one of the weaker years for sure, but the same can be said about Slipknot and the Killers.

And yes, Bands are perceived differently in Germany. Look at Muse's slot in 07. Look at the Lost Profets' slot last year. Look at DIe Toten Hosen or die Ärzte any time they play. Look at Snow Patrol at Hurricane in 07.

Placebo aren't as big in Germany as in France, but probably bigger than in the UK.

Hey people, I've done my best to read through FAQ and half of the thread.

Here are still three questions;

1. If I arrive at Thursday night or Friday morning, I have understood that the best camping sites are gone. But are there parking lots and camping sites left? I don't care if they're far away, as long as they exist.

2. My German sucks. Are there any official, apart from recommendations, age restrictions?

3. If I come without a car from Düsseldorf, eg. by train/bus, to where should I go? What city is the destination?

Feel free to kick my ass if these have been asked, or just ignore it. It's a really informative thread, so thanks for having it.

(And generally - how early do people generally begin to queue for the bigger bands, take Marilyn Manson or Placebo for this year?)

Cheers! :O

    • I'm not sure about the entrance but it wouldn't be a surprise to find the festival have secured use of the land from Steanbow who own it for either new CV space, or for authorised off-site camping as they did with Worthy View.  An authorised off-site pitch-your-own with decent facilities priced just below WV would fly off the shelves as an option.
    • Burnham needs to hold onto his seat , plus needs labour to hold onto all those other seats that could go Reform, so I think some blue labour stuff might stay...and it will be back to the tactic of hoping enough left/liberal voters will get behind labour and not go Green in order to stop a Reform govt...obviously wasn't working with Starmer, but might with Burnham if he shows enough leg. Have to see, Burnham is going from a cushty job where he's very popular and seen as successful to probably the most difficult job going, prime minister of this country...and his popularity might not last long when people realise he can't fix all the problems over night. What he can do is give a sense of direction and optimism which is badly needed, but he will also be faced with a whole bunch of nasty trade offs and could be where Starmer is now in a matter of months.
    • Yep, The Cure and The xx are the two most painful misses for me this year. The Cure literally plays at every corner, except the one I attend to.
    • There’s going to be a Táncdalfesztivál thingy which is going to be some kind of retro party from the 60’s and 70’s with Hungarian acts. Not much info about it yet, but they mentioned it at the press conference when announced the 3 others.
