Do not lock your tent, it makes it look like there's something worth stealing!

Rock Am Ring seemed very safe, but yeah, there're c**ts everywhere...

Don't just put your bag in your tent, empty it all over and make your tent really messy... tis 10x harder for a theif to go through dirty clothes, empty beer cans and whatever instead of nicking an entire bag... any valuables i'd keep in a car/locker or a pocket FASTENED TO YOU somehow, wallet chain or whatever...

Found like 5 wallets in Against Me last year :(

I always stash my passport/return tickets under my tent... never had a problem, but it's not exactly foolproof!

Well, looks like I'm coming back to the ring once again :(

Went in 2007 and was in awe of the festival and its surroundings. After seeing the mighty KISS at Download last year, I have decided to return to Rock Am Ring

I normally take as what is being played at Download, is what to expect at Rock Am Ring. Yet its not always the case.

There still doesnt seem to be any major headliners as the poster hasnt been put up yet......and I assume that they only put it up on the site once the headliners have been confirmed??

On the security issue, we usually use those security belt things that tie round your waist under clothes(thank God they go under clothes-bum bags are best left in 1991 :() It's best to share out valuables between you so that if someone gets hold of, for example, your passport, they don't also get your credit card and plane tickets to go with it. You can fit something like an Ipod quite easily into them, though if you're planning on moshing it might take a beating. Otherwise I don't take anything of any value to a thief, unless they're into stinky socks or mud encrsuted towels :(

Heard of it, not just under that name... Isn't it a bit uncommunicative? and it seems to be more of a club thing, doesn't really fit a rock festival if you ask me.

And RaR is in the middle of nowhere, no point in noise restrictions...

Two videos of the construction work going on at the Nürburgring on ringrocker.com:

http://ringrocker.com/modules.php?op=modlo...1&start=278

They are changing a lot. And building a lot = less space for camping. I am afraid the main entrance from last year is where the main entrance is gonna be every year now. :-(

the new one is a bit out of the way. The old one threw you right onto the pit straight, the new one throws you much further around the track. you are pretty close to the alternative stage, and the tent, but the main stage is quite a walk. The old one plonked you out in the middle of it all, which was nice.

The new entry is a bit of a bottle neck at peak times too, it works, i just prefered the old way :P

On a side note, squig, what camp grounds was that construction work on? that looked like some of the 'A' camps

Had heard of Rock am Ring before but never really looked into it that much tbh, done T in the Park, Leeds and a few other festivals before, but never considered going to Europe for a festival. Came across details last week with a mate and decided it could be a belter weekend ... 1 week later there 4 of us on board, booked the tickets, put 2 weeks hols in at work, booked a return ferry crossing and bought a 1991 VW Caravelle for £450 !!

Road trip, can't wait !!

    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
    • This has probably been discussed a hundred times already on efests but what constitutes a legend? I know some of it is my age but I don't see eurithmics or Duran Duran as legend status. Neil young or nils lofgren then yes and neither of them have overly troubled the charts. Duran Duran and indeed the eurithmics I would put in the 80s category and whilst it would be ok (human league at isle of wight we're fabulous) they just arent in my mind legend status.  Zombies played same festival- i would take that.
    • friendly tonight delayed , pitch draining pretty quick to be fair .... not sure it bodes well for other games with potential fixture backlog
    • Never happen, but an Annie Lennox solo or Eurythmics reunion would make me very happy.
    • Burnham going to go blue labour to ensure he wins makerfield and gets enough nominations from the PLP. How he’d govern is anyone’s guess. Odds on to win anyway so guess we’re not too far away from finding out.
