Personally, I don't think there will be any changes to the queuing system in place for the 2025 sale.  GFL will be aware that true bots are a risk, but they may also see large collectives of organised folks running multiple devices, containers or profiles to get an advantage as bots themselves, and then struggle to know where to draw the line without penalising folks who are simply more on the ball than others.

 

They will also be acutely aware that engineering tech to close those gaps will cost, and therefore eat into the money they are able to pass to the Charities, without passing those costs on to punters in the ticket price, which they will be cautious of doing especially after a 2 year break and the inevitable media coverage that will get.

 

This may all be naive and overly trusting of me though.....

There is possibly a weak link in the ticket buying system, no matter how clever the technical controls get. I just spent 20 minutes this morning hammering the ‘Buy Tickets’ button while the web page kept telling me there weren’t enough tickets remaining to meet my request. Eventually it changed its mind and let me buy two tickets. Most likely because of failed payments in the queue ahead of me. So - just like it did in the good old F5 days - pig-headed blind persistence can sometimes pay off.

 

BTW, the tickets were for the Whispering Bob Harris evening in the Albert Hall on 2nd December.

At some point they’ll get pissed off with the poor news coverage and so will the average punter when they realise the only way to get tickets is paid services . We aren’t there yet but that possibility increases every year . Last time I think the cost was £50 this year I’d not be shocked if it were £100 and these services much more widely used and offered
