There will we a podium discussion on tuesday (same day with the announcement) with Gerendai organized by Forbes, i am going to participate.. maybe he will talk about his vision about the future of the sziget festival

Anything new about the south part of the island, where some installations are supposed to be? Does this mean a reduction or expansion of the festival space, can they use some Infrastructure? Let us know if there will be anything mentioned.

A Hungarian celebrity (Sebestyén Balázs) just announced a DJ set to the main field area of Óbuda Island, 3 days before Sziget, claims its unrelated to the festival, separate event, and Sziget-tickets won't be valid.

I'm wondering how can you hold an event like that at the time, constructions on the island start weeks before the festival. Or is it going to be pretty much ready by then, and he's going to "rent" the main stage and stuff?

They are probably doing this to split some of the costs, smart financial decision given the circumstances this year.

Meanwhile, a few headliner/act clues on the IG page?

"He talked about issues that related to me and IT REALLY HELPED ME through my dark times."

"It's important because it's been MY CHILDHOOD DREAM to see him."

"The first time I came here I made SO MANY FRIENDS and like so many different people."

Lyrics match for The 1975….

They announced last week that they are working on two new albums, with rumours circulating of potential festival gigs in 2026.....

I dont know a lot about 1975, but wouldnt they have announced festival gigs by now? Especially in the UK and Reading? Can only see a possible APE show left in the UK.

You would imagine so, however I wouldn’t rule out one/two shows to start the album cycle, they did this in 2022 with the last album and Hyde Park haven’t done all of their announcements yet for next year, purely speculation but don’t think it’s impossible

This.

And about the 1975, no way they are coming. Their first show back is not going to be at Sziget.. Also, the lyrics is "With So many friends I don't wanna meet". They are not going to use 3 random words out of a random song for a clue

Yeah, I think they main acts we get tomorrow will come from the already-known list of headliners who are already doing the rounds. Maybe a new EDM headliner but the rest are going to be from a quite short short-list.

Which isn't a bad thing (for me, at least) as I'd happily take 80% of them.

The main nail-biter is the undercard, with so many good undercard acts around next year I just fear there could be a swing and a miss if they don't get some of the best ones.

There weren't too many people who showed up for The 1975 at Sziget 2019.

On their social media straight after the 2019 Sziget show the band declared it as their favourite ever gig, so there's certainly some love from the band towards the festival. They've become much bigger since that show, headlined Glastonbury last year.

Still unlikely it's them though, with no other festivals announced for 2026.

Maybe, but in this area of Europe I'm not so sure they became much more popular.

On the other hand, Placebo would also fit Gerendai's idea of bringing back some of the older "szitizens". And this band also loved Sziget, they played it more than once but didn't come back since 2014. However, I don't think it's a clue for them, because they're singing "too many friends", not "so many friends". 😞

I’m a huge Placebo fanboy, but I’m not sure they are in a position where they should headline.

In 2014 they agreed to play before Skrillex, so technically they didn't headline back then either. I guess they would accept that spot again IF the festival wants them AND IF they're also available in August.

https://www.openairsg.ch/ This Swiss festival in late June announced some names, they've got Of Monsters And Men and Wet Leg alongside Twenty One Pilots.

Wet Leg!! Lol

Of Monsters and Men are a band I saw a couple of times around 2016 and they absolutely blew me away. Phenomenal live act, would be very happy if they were announced.

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
