Expect a lot of  castle show announcements to start, loads of halifax, Margate, Tk maxx shows have been announced with no cardiff to be seen

I can't really see any of the artists playing those shows popping up at Cardiff for various reasons, either having played it this year (Pet Shop Boys, Tom Grennan, Human League), having a separate Cardiff date to sell (James Arthur), or playing nearby instead (The Streets).

Lytham still has two headliners to announce so hopefully we get some strong names with that. We must be missing another Blackweir date or two based on this year?

Depot post had a Castle emoji so its definitely there.

I was musing on this in another thread but I noted The Hives have changed venue for a planned Cardiff show later this month from the Utilita Arena to the Depot. As a non-local, I'm guessing that is a lot smaller?

it is smaller yeah.  Chat GPT says 7.5k capacity vs 2k.

I’ve only ever seen one gig in there (ocean colour scene a couple of years back) and far prefer it as a venue.  This switch in venue means I’m probably go.

Yeah it's only really picked up as a venue in the last year or so but as mentioned its about 2k capacity. Slightly bigger (I think?) than the Students Union but still under half of the current arena. They use it for a lot of DJ type stuff and its the home of Bingo Lingo, not been there for a gig set up but its a decent place.

What do we think are the chances of Florence and the machine making an appearance at Blackweir?

Not completely ruled out but you'd think it would've perhaps been announced with those additional dates that went on sale last week.

I saw Killswitch Engage in there last month and it's my new favourite Cardiff venue. Sounds quality was leagues above the arena and the room is big, open and wide, good view of the stage from all angles. Think the uneven stone floor could be a bit problematic though especially with heavier more 'active' gigs.

    • but it is loyalists doing the rioting...so he can also make a point there.
    • I don’t know what was going on with SEE tickets for Phoebe Bridgers this morning.. I had a presale code, got into the sale after queuing for 15mins with the green bars of doom.. but no map to choose seats from, just categories like “aisle seat” and “reserved seat” and sometimes a drop down of the section, but you had no idea where in the section the seat was… then you clicked through and either got “no tickets available” or a captcha which just kept looping no matter how well you selected the thing it was asking you to identify.. then eventually it spat you out to another “not enough tickets available” message.. I went through that loop SO many times.. I was doing captchas endlessly.. it was totally borked.    in the end I went back to the email with the presale code in, it then directed me to ticketmaster rather than see, still for Manchester, and I could then see the tickets on the map .. get them in my basket etc ..but there was only upper tier left.. so going to try my luck on ticketmaster for the main sale.. SEE was total garbage!
    • For the 25th anniversary would be hopeful for  Pavement, Neutral Milk Hotel. Guided by Voices .  Modest Mouse.
    • Yeah we're in prime random announcements time so worth keeping an eye out for anything revealed
    • Wonder what that could be. Too early to announce Geese…
