The council investigated, found a technical breach, but chose not to take enforcement action as the site was restored and no lasting harm was identified.

My view is common sense prevailed and hopefully the cure aren’tt hung up on this.

I don't think it's accurate to say the Council investigated. They knew (as everyone else did) that planning permission had not been approved. It was well known when the gigs were announced in 2024 that planning permission was an issue.

It was clearly a move to bring more money into the City - which is fine in its own way but it should have been done properly. Cardiff Council already have a shady reputation and I'm not sure this really helped.

The extended change of use was just the icing on the cake really. I'd hope that they would do everything by the book this year.

Judging by their other locations you'd think Blackweir - not sure why it wouldn't be announced alongside the others though?

Could it be as the cures headline dates are very much curated their main Cardiff support wasn't ready to announce

 pitbull could be playing  blackweir.

Wouldn't it have made sense to announce this with the London & Leeds gigs announced last week?

... saying that My Chemical Romance took ages to announce they were pairing their Wembley dates with shows in Liverpool & Glasgow so who knows.

Is that for pitbull or the cure.

Joking aside I cant imagine the manics supporting anyone in cardiff

The only way I could see this is if it was a Principality Show.

The Manics were part of Robert Smith's meltdown lineup in 2018 so there is some connection.

Do we think Manics could sell Blackweir on their own?

I think with the right supporting bill they could

Love the Manics but would be quite an uninspiring booking given that they played the Castle twice last year.
