For me, the headliners at Mad Cool are better this year. However, Werchter is a huge festival so we can probably count on at lot of good undercards.

Obviously subjective but overall felt the undercard matched upto nowhere near the top this year. I would hope it goes closer to the 2024 with a some top names not punching you in the face but well filled out, that obviously won't be everyone's view. If they end up similar to last year underneath i wouldn't have high hopes. I'd take Lorde, VW and Kasabian all day over this years Thursday undercard though with LP as your headliner but that wouldn't be universal. Lorde, VW and Kasabian under The Cure however would be top bananas

The guy with the drop of Mumford on Thursday now does not believe Vampire Weekend are in the mix. He thinks they would be at Mad Cool if playing

He thinks Pulp will be a barn headliner, I think it's very unlikely myself. He also thinks TWOD and The Offspring will be 2nd and 3rd down below The XX which I also would question both. He thinks KOL will play under The Cure.

From this year Werchter only had 3 of the second and 3rd down bands from Mad Cool. In 2024 it was only 4 if you take the first from the second line so out of the 2-4th acts of 12, 4 at the max are likely for Werchter with Lorde being one. TWOD likely another, KOL likely another.

There is a suggestion now of it being s top 3 of Mumford, Lorde and Lumineers.

Someone suggests Pulp and Jack will play high up the same day on the barn lol.

There is less belief now that Florence will play and to be honest with both Nos and MC having her outright I'm inclined to probably agree. I think it's KOL and TWOD as the missing options.

Tbh it would make sense to have her at RW since she's around, but I was thinking that she might do Pukkelpop instead to make up for the cancellation in 2023

I didn't enjoy Mumford and Sons back in '23, but the weather was sh*t and I was really hyped for Stromae. Would probably prefer to attend a strong Barn headliner, but if Werchter booked a good-enough sub for Thursday, I don't mind seeing Mumford again afterwards.

Kasabian would be a welcomed return from the 23 edition.

Who's "the guy"? Has he got any history of having inside information? If not, I don't think we should care too much, as one wouldn't need to be an expert in order to guess Mumford for Thursday. That said, I would be happy with a lot of his "predictions", except for the one about Vampire Weekend. Would not surprise me at all if they recycled Lumineers again instead.

The person who had the Vampire Weekend info is different to Jimmy btw.  And the top 3 was always supposed to be (if the leak was true) M&S, Lorde and The Lumineers.  VW were due to be 4th down

Yeah the person with the vampire weekend info has no credibility , just a random new user .

Yeah I agree there too and I’m sceptical, but I suppose Kasabian were announced for MC and then Mumfords today for Werchter so will give them the benefit of the doubt for now (plus I want it to be true)

The only thing I was always unsure witj Werchter was about them having 3 headlined back again from a previous edition being 2019. I mentioned a while ago and it could change that Mumford, Florence and The Cure being back all the same year. PJ and The Killers with a 4 years gap over the whole covid break is one instance of repeats but I don't think there has ever been 3. There has been an instance however of Werchter only grabbing one of Mad Cools main big headliner and then having their second in line.

Jimmy so he's well known to be clued up.

I know, ive taken Jimmy as the credible source and there is no way at all VW are playing 4th down at all all these years later. Last time the only reason they were 4th was because of Netsky closing after Green Day, no way The Lumineers play after them. Just to point out this year VW played the same position this year at Pukkelpop that Khruangbin did in 2024 which was also subbing Dua Lipa so all things considered they would be 3rd down at the max!

That’s fair, it’s also fair to mention in his post he had Moby closing the night and that’s not the case as M&S are closing.

We’ll know a lot more soon anyway.

Was actually just having a looking who was announced last time in the first batch of names:

Noah Khan - Sub

Simple Minds - Sub

Rufus De Sol - Barn Head

Elbow and Lola Young - Barn Subs

Fontaines and Raye - Both 3rd main

Barry can’t swim and Overmono - Klub C headers

Plus a few other main stage/barn acts.

So could be quite an interesting drop next week anyway

Jimmy also said later on in the forum he still expects 3 names of that top calibre so imma assume one for each day besides Saturday where we already have 2 big names

I expect another decent sized name under Mumfords (Lorde), another under The XX (KOL) and one under The Cure (The Offspring).  I personally think TWOD will take a 3rd down spot based on other lineups

I would take that as 3 subs and 1 3rd, Raye was 100% a sub originally, she was pushed down because it was needs must and likely didn't expect that position there anyway. That doesn't mean there won't be two 3rd down's still announced though,

In the nicest way, they haven't got announce someone massive to be The XX level there whether they can headline/close or not, there are a lot of bands around that can fit there. He also says it's never a bad thing to expect too much so I think it's more a feeling of it being on the 'light side'. To be fair we expect more from it too.

As said above too, jimmy has also put Moby closing after Mumford's which definitely is not happening as the festival confirmed Mumford are closing.

You're very likely also not getting The Prodigy, they would almost definitely be playing after a headliner with their current size, massive compared to most barn headliners to and their broad appeal is huge.

TWOD are subbing at Nos and Wolf Alice 3rd down. The difficult thing is this year that while there is usually a lot of crossover with MC, they've booked everyone and the one's to crossover vs spaces left is too many vs too little.

Lorde will be subbing at Mad Cool and she is subbing Nos

Mumford, Lorde, Lumineers

The XX, KOL

TOP/Gorillaz, TWOD purely as it's a co-headliner

The Cure, The Offspring

Not even sure TWOD won't sub The Cure and The Offspring don't play

A bit worried that we'll miss out on Offspring as I don't think they fit in with any of the headliners, but I guess we'll se. That probably goes for every rock band though, so we'll hope there's something up their sleeves..

TWOD aren’t even on the main stage at Nos @northernangel

To be honest with Wolf Alice there and I hadn't noticed that makes sense. They will however be headlining the second stage which goes on after the main stage by two acts I believe which would put them essentially similar. If TWOD don't sub they won't be there to be honest and it could be between them and The Offspring.

Also, Pulp definitely won't be playing Thursday as they are in France.

That’s exactly the same as them being a barn header then? The facts are there that they are taking lower spots, whether they do at Werchter will seen soon I’m sure as I’m sure all the subs, barn headers were announced by December

I'll be honest I'm not sure 100% bit now you mention that, no barn headliner is subbing at Werchter are they?, Underworld for example aren't a band of Deftones, Simple Minds or Noah Kahan size.

The reason I used Nos due to a smaller festival which even though capacity wise they are the same this year, Werchter is surely the bigger fest. But Floating Points for example I doubt are subbing at that festival.

So you could be right though I don't think they'll take a spot lower than the sub last time, bearing in mind they got a higher spot at Werchter last time than Mad Cool too.
