Nooo! They have been my highlight.. 🥲

Where did you all got the information?

It's on instagram, but they really should have changed the website by now.

I can't see it being Menzingers as it's doubtful they will do 3 separate trips over to Europe this summer.

I hope we see an international band replace Thursday and they spend the cash rather than bumping people up one.

James said on the pod it'll likely not be an international band

It’ll probably be Deaf Havana then. Third down, played it last time. Can be announced after Slam Dunk. Many bands who would take this slot have other commitments or festivals they’re doing.

I'd say it'll be out of them, Twin Atlantic, Holding Absence or The Wildhearts

  • 3 weeks later...

Trees are doing the presale email for an Arcane Roots show in London tomorrow morning, should be going out to the Trees mailing list. HOPEFULLY it coincides with the last announcement with Slam Dunk now behind us

Static Dress seemingly always were going to play (slam dunk embargo). new album out today and it’s a good booking. However, Tigercub added to main. I like Tigercub but it’s a bit of a piss take given the difference in fee to Thursday as a big US band. Hopefully it’s been re-invested in a bone fide big draw for next year as this festival is approaching with zero hype for where the cash has actually been spent. The undercard is good though admittedly, although theme wouldn’t command sizeable fees.

James said they've spent about 80% of the band budget on the top 12 or so names for next year already on this week's pods today so I sense it's  gonna be a biggun

Do you think with the excitment he had over one band that he might of actually got biffy?

Personally I don’t think so, no. I don’t think they could ever play and be announced. Secret set sure but not a billed headliner. Too big.

I’d guess it’s someone who doesn’t tour often.

I suppose we couldn’t have expected a big band to replace Thursday at short notice, especially international. I’d like to know the split of money across bands this year as although the headliners had more hype last year, the undercard was worse tbh

Nah, he said nobody would ever guess it so it's someone who doesn't play here or it's a reunion

Yeah this was my thoughts. Maybe Dillinger but again maybe too obvious with what he said.

Fairly sure it won't be Dillinger after what was said about them on the podcast previously, and not sure anyone will lose their minds over that booking anyway.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
