fair. i guess they havent over saturated the market here so there's a bit of allure. i went to every download from 2010-2019 then again in 22, and lusted from 2006, so im used to seeing massive massive names at the festival. its a shame the festival scene is dying with mid size bands all playing stadiums and getting money that way

Thing you probably haven't factored in is that System, Slipknot, Linkin Park, KoRn, Deftones, Limp Bizkit, MCR, Avenged, etc. are to the generation on from us what bands like AC/DC, Maiden, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Sabbath, Aerosmith, Kiss, Def Leppard were to our generation.

If you go see any of the bands listed at the top, there are loads of young people at the shows and they have a second wave of interest now and have become multi-generational acts like the ones you think of as massive massive names.

Download really need to swallow their pride and bin off this exclusive headliners rule

Bands like MCR and SOAD would still sell out their days no issue even with their shows

100% I never know who this "exclusive headliners" thing benefits. its defo not the fans as why would we care. take Foos for example. if they headlined Download but also did say Hyde Park and Roundhay Park I would go to all 3. SOAD would be perfect for Download after selling Wembley out with their money grab tickets.

Bring Me The Horizon, Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park likely for Download then.

Don’t think we get BMTH, they’re only playing festivals they haven’t already done on this cycle. They last did Nova Rock and Tons of Rock in 2022. They won’t have the pull after headlining R&L this year and DL two years ago.

Urgh terrible support bill (The Hu are ok but otherwise blurgh). What a waste.

I seem to have the opposite opinion to everyone here. I loved the support acts and would go to a show with all of them together if it wasn't for the fact Iron Maiden are headlining. They ruin the lineup for me 😅

BMTH actually headlined nova rock in 2024 so if it's largely the same setup as before that's twice they will have run it there.

They’d have more pull than Limp Bizkit and GnR!

You got a source or you just confident? Haha

Bit of both. The source confirmed Linkin Park. They then said one headliner had played R&L in last 4 years - Limp Bizkit. The other’ debut album was before 1991 - GnR.

This is also the rumour that’s been going around a lot.

I like NiN but are they that big in the UK? they'd be a 3rd headliner size. i can't see the market. they're not 'monsters of rock' they're not really 'nu metal' and they're not fresh and young.

Out of all the takes in the thread so far, this is the wildest.

Ahh interesting. Sorry im not up to date. Been busy and not on the forum. The r and l headliner could be BMTH? I feel limp would be back too soon. Literally only been a year since they played and didnt even headline. Id prefer bmth but have to wait and see.

Bring Me have done something here very year since 2021:

  • Arena Tour 2021
  • R+L 2022
  • Download 2023
  • Arena Tour 2024
  • R+L 2025

They have also basically toured a similar stage show and setlist too. Great as it is, they need to come out with something new.

They also did APE 2019 and an arena tour in 2018 - they could definitely do with a break from the UK market.

In my mind, my guess is Ghost, NIN and Linkin Park.

If the talk about NIN being in Europe are true, it makes sense.

Ghost have an unannounced second half of their skeletour (in the interviews they've talked about it being their longest tour with like a hundred odd dates if I remember correctly .etc, so I am pretty confident we've only had the first half of it).

Linkin Park seem a shoe-in with the gap in their schedule.

If Download didn't get Ghost, I would be very shocked and I think it'd be egg on the face with the way they've been trying to do headliners over the past couple years. I honestly think if anyone else in the UK area has Ghost, that's a terrible look for Download considering how hot they are with the "target" market they seem to be aiming for and a massive ball drop.

Edit: Additional thoughts that didn't warrant a double-post: Didn't BMTH say they're having a break? Also didn't Limp Bizkit reject headliner slot when they played Download last? Also, we've had no repeat headliners since "Download 2.0" so I'm failing to see why BMTH would be back so soon.

All good. Yeah think that’s the sentiment most people have that it’s way too soon for them to play DL again!
