I'd love it if they did Glasto and be there with my bells on and hands held high. I'd be one step closer to ticking everyone on my to-see list. But they are doing stadiums all across the world, they're headliner or bust and sadly not the kind of headliner I see the festival booking. And even if you leave out all the rest, it would require breaking the habit of not doing shows on consecutive days.

arenas in the u.s with one stadium

lol. Not that huge.

still random that everyone wants linkin park karaoke

Not really, been a fan of LP all of my life, think Emily is incredible, what a set of pipes!

As much as I loved Chester, there was a band before Chester (albeit Xero, HT) and there'll be one after. The show must go on...

As someone who isn't really into LP, I think it's valid to recognise that it shouldn't end at Chester, but this feels a little bit more like Mike Shinoda and Friends than it does Linkin Park at this point. No recognised vocalist, plus the lead guitarist and drummer are both not touring...? Just feels a bit icky to me

Second this.

Think Emily is brilliant and adds something really fresh to the band. Obviously Chester was the best to do it but I think they’re new music is the best it’s sounded in years.

Brad is still recording with them, just doesn't want to tour at this stage. Emily is the recognised lead vocalist, the third, so far, for the band, although the band has always officially had two leads including Mike too.

Mike, Dave and Joe are all original members, and with Brad still in the background, the lineup is much more 'original' than some band's 'reunions.'

How are Linkin Park similar to any other 'nostalgia act' that has been booked recently?

Similar era. Early 2000s, like Sophie Ellis Bextor, Shania Twain, Sugababes, Texas, Keane. It seems to be a trend at the festival recently.

It's not that Emily doesn't have a good voice, it's that the new album is very average. The Emptyness Machine is by far the best song.

I thought Mike sounded poor on Heavy is the Crown too.

I'm not against them moving on, or who likes it or doesn't, just as a huge Linkin Park fan, whether their recent outputs were poor or not it isn't the same.

Yes one might still be recording but if he's not on that stage then it could be bon down the road.

I think Emptiness Machine is my song of the year to be honest, so there was no way the rest of the album was going to match up to that for me. I like Heavy is the Crown a lot too. Initially didn't like Over Each Other, but it's grown on me, pretty much because of Emily's vocals. I don't like Two Faced, which is ironic, because it could be argued that, in some ways, it's the most 'Linkin Park' song of the four, place for my head vibes.

I haven't heard any of the others yet, waiting for the full album drop at midnight. Hope I'm not as disappointed as you. 😕

Two Faced gives me Points of Authority backing vibes without the vocals which feel a bit cheesy.

I think heavy is the crown is better when she's signing or he is than both.

It’s brilliant mate, love the 2 you mention and like you the others have grown on me too.  Of course it’s not the same but certainly can’t wait to hear it all live

I can see that actually.

I missed their last UK show, despite having access to the pre sale, because when the presale went live, I had been held up on the M1 for 3 hours after dropping the missus and daughter off at the airport!!!

Now I'm 'hopefully' going to be at Glastonbury for their next one, which I also have access to the presale for 😞

It’ll happen 1 day mate.  Seeing them at Werchter which I’m over the moon about them being announced

While I agree, I think Xero is a bit of a weak argument. The LP we know broadly, as a thing was with Chester so as recognised front people that took the band to somewhere and a level it's definitely on him.

I will listen to the album and give it a good go.

I think it is Mike and friends with the LP name as that's what will sell tickets.

@Alvoram after listening to the album, cut the bridge is the only other song for me that is really worth it and it's by quite a distance. I would give NMEs review of 3* 3.5 if I'm really being generous.

It's better overall probably that their last 4 albums but I could take certain tracks out of their last 4 that I really like. The Catalyst, Guilty All The Same, Burn it down just about and Castle of glass also just. Someone haven't aged well. M2M was probably their last decent album.

Their sales show that trajectory too. The only reason I think One More Light did better was because of it's significance.

Can’t see them getting booked for Glastonbury; but would support it.

Not at Download, no rumours for R&L - where could they realistically pop up at UK festivals now?

Especially with the “Only UK Headline show” wording making it sound there will be festival appearances.

yeah i imagine they’ve got another festival booked as download would’ve thrown all their money at them to try book them. they’re also in the us same time as R&L and would also easily headline there. as unlikely as it seems i think it could happen, a lot of stuff seems to line up in favour.

It is interesting as many other acts that are only doing one show like it would probably just leave it as that. They've definitely chosen an option whereby people who want to see them will go rather than it being a venue where it would cause controversy.

Glastonbury is the type of place whereby it would be a massive thing for them to reach out to different crowds.

Just had a listen and I agree completely.

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
    • Yup and they aren't cheap   Glastonbury is different though, it's a place that will pack out for rarities they don't usually see. Download strictly speaking shouldn't be the strangest place for Avril to pop up of she had been a touring artist of longer times over the years.   Avril and GC would get the same billing for me and GC are selling arenas out quicker than Avril sold Ally Pally. Bearing in mind she'd pnly done soem Brixton dates before.
    • Avril gets above GC on rarity (see Cypress Hill this year). She drew in something like 70,000 at Glastonbury, so much so that they had to close the field off. I’d wager that she would get the biggest crowd of the entire weekend if she was to play DL.
