announcing electronic sets up front to show off their "new" approach and holding on live sets for further announcements

Why would they do this

Hold back headliners, scaring people who want live sets off, those people buy tickets for other fests and then they release them

Seems a bit silly!

This is the problem with the poor marketing strategy they are employing.

Nobody know what their plans are as they haven't shared any info yet so, as is the age-old problem with communication, if you don't tell people what's happening then people will fill the void with the own thoughts and invariably get it wrong.

Communication is key and Sziget really need to get that sorted.....and quickly.

I think DJs can't really be measured that way. Blessed Madonna sells fewer tickets than a lot of other DJs with 10% of her listeners

I know nothing about this type of music, but I have certainly heard of Blessed Madonna.

I go to live music vents and gigs to sing along to songs I know and have a joyous encounter with others doing the same thing.

If you see a DJ, do you just dance to stuff you've never heard before? I'm stumped by that one. Lol. Yes, I'm old.

Do you think Chappell Roan is big enough to be the only headliner to close the festival or could she be a co-headliner ?

She's definitely big enough, look at the views on individual instagram posts, Chappell 170K views in 1 day, Charli 126K, Anyma 73K. I assume people are excited to see her and I personally know at least 5 people who will buy a day ticket to just see her

If people are daft enough to buy tickets before a names been announced, that's a bit stupid to be honest. Especially the below average lineups sziget has been serving up last few years.

For 2024 I bought it the first day it was available, because festival's nearby so it's a no brainer I'll be there, so i wanted to get it on the cheap = as early as possible...

...then i was shocked when people sold it for 150 euros online during the spring when the line up was announced. So this time I'm waiting - i'll definitely go, but I think second hand will be the cheapest option this year as well.

A very wise strategy I suspect.

We got ours early, along with booking flights and reserving accommodation so have to attend, but suspect we might be spending more exploring the city this year!

I used to buy the 1st day they came out, then realised what the hell are you doing.

Just checked this out - quite surprised how low van Buurren's figures are. Barely hit 300.

Yes, but it is true his video was the last one uploaded, so after time it might be more.

It seems Nelly Furtado was good booking though, she is a big name after all, i'm expecting a big crowd there

Don't know if this confession should be embarrassing but I'm into EDM. Already saw live 10+ names from that Sziget poster and know their names even saw Tale of us but this is first time I heard about Anyma 😄

When did he become such a big name to be headliner?

I started seeing videos of his performance I think some time last year and he blew up this year. Not normally big enough for a headline but if they start promoting his sets, and people will see his Sphere shows, it will sell massively. Especially if there is a brand new main stage as I expect. It will essentially sell Sziget as an experience. Much like the Sphere itself that can host him for 8 shows in a row for 500 dollars per sear at a minimum.

If we get something like this at Sziget, but even bigger, flashier, it will sell out:

I don't think Sziget sells out, not from memory anyway.

The thing is there are barely any stages  that can accomodate Anyma in Europe - I assume based on the fact that there have barely ever been any shows around Europe. So since the Sphere shows will be all over social media, I believe this will do much better than people expect based on like on Sziget Festival posts and so on.

Yeah it might sell well, I just don't think it will sell the festival out.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
