Otherwise, I could make a case for it being The Killers again. Would be... eight years, I think, since they last did it. Proven seller - although they do need to be aware of market saturation after all those shows at The O2 last year - and if you stick someone sturdy on underneath them, it will shift easily enough.

Call it a Hot Fuss 21st Anniversary show as a one-off, and they'd be fine.

I did find it random they did Hot Fuss in full shows in Australia when HF was such a smash here in the UK - went to number one in January 2005 and was nearly enough to catapult them into a Glastonbury headline slot when Kylie pulled out at the last minute.

So the potential is there. Whether it happens, I dunno. Feels like it would've been confirmed by now if it had been. I don't necessarily think they're concerned about market saturation given they've done between-album tours of the UK before, though it could be a fair note given it would be a fourth summer in a row of UK shows after a 2022 stadium tour, 2023 slot at Reading & Leeds and the Rebel Diamonds arena run here last June/July.

I did think it particularly weird they did them only in Australia outside of Vegas. I think however much of the appeal was featuring the four of them - though did Mark get to Australia for those shows? I cannot remember.

Having Dave back last summer was  a treat, but I digress. A straight up version of the Vegas show will do the trick. The problem is a particularly lesser-known mid-section, and whether that translates well to a field.

Mark was there at the Australian dates, yes. Was quite a surreal impression to see them have two different line-ups in Australia with Dave & Mark doing the HF shows but not on the Rebel Diamonds dates.

Tbf I'm curious if they'd swap Glamorous Indie & Change Your Mind given the odd change Hot Fuss had for its UK release back in the day. Plus I'd mainly be in it for Midnight Show, which is one of my favourites on Hot Fuss but which has never been in any of my sets. Though I will note there's a coldness as I've not particularly enjoyed previous trips to BST Hyde Park.

The weirdest thing there is that Mark has then done the handful of post-Vegas shows this year, but Dave hasn't. Go figure - but at the very least, it is clearly working for the four of them right now, it seems.

Hyde Park is a funny old venue. Never been too impressed with it, but it also has been naturally better than a few other large outdoor venues I've been to.

I can’t see an act like The 1975 being in between Neil Young and ELO

It's not really an issue, they are all stand alone shows under the BST banner, Who follows who is irrelevent.

I did thinnk before that The 1975 would play. Maybe if they are the missing name, it was held back to give Glastonbury some thing to announce. Otherwise, if all three are BST healiners it's a bit of an anti-climax when the Glastonbury poster comes out.

Anyway, keen to find out who is missing.

Weren't there whispers of them also being at that new festival in Newcastle?

aye, but that's seemingly fallen apart. Bookers are struggling to fill the days. Seems likely it's either just the 2 announced (Robbie + Kings of Leon) or the whole thing is canned at the point.

True, although I thought they would try capitalise on an older audience going on Friday and Sunday

That does make sense but don't think they worry about such things.

Feel like this is an important point that often gets lost. BST is not booked like the festivals which sell tickets based on the overall strength of the lineup, and can't really be compared.

In much the same way, BST have no problem putting the same act on two nights running - with probably near enough the same setlist. Or the same act on consecutive weekends. Or while I don't think they've really done it so far, I'm pretty sure that an act having played recently won't stop BST booking them again the following year (or indeed every year) if they're confident that the tickets will shift. All stuff the likes of Glastonbury, Reading, Boardmasters, Latitude, etc would try and avoid.

I wonder now that they’ve announced Glastonbury and Olivia Rodrigo is playing the Sunday if anyone else on the bill over the weekend could  pop up at Hyde Park as a sub or as a special guest to duet with one of the acts.

i appreciate Girl in Red is doing Glastonbury and supporting Rodrigo for instance
