What I love about victorious is it caters for all.  Half the line up I can be blissfully unaware of with the likes of Jess Glynne, Becky Hill and Louis Tomlinson, who folk will be absolutely buzzing for I’m sure!  And then in parallel they’ll have Idles, Pixies and Biffy and a host of indie right up my street.  Not too many fests on that scale with such variety

Not wanting to wish the summer away but can’t wait for this and then have my first Shiiine On festival to look forward to in November.  Any Victorious regulars been to that before?  Other than the fb page doesn’t seem to be much online presence

I’ve been to Shiiine on once. I felt quite at home due to the enormous number of other middle aged bald fat blokes.

I enjoyed it but it did feel very “lads” to me. It was a very very big weekend on the beers!

I like this year’s line up but in Butlin’s weekender terms it’s very pricy.

Rockaway Beach at Bognor in January is a much more laid back (better) experience IMO.

I’m going with the missus for her 40th and I have some hair left so sounds like we’ll be a glamour couple 🤣

Echo and the bunnymen headlining, never seen them in the victorious bill which surprises me.  Alongside kula shaker and embrace plus plenty of indie and 90s dance shenanigans.  A pub quiz with former shed 7 drummer, a day time rave and an evening with Bez!  Sounds much fun

do we think we’ll get much more in bands for victorious? Any obvious gaps? Looks pretty full

Echo have definitely played before. I think this may be our lot now.

So, glasto isn’t  happening so time to look at others.
For me the lineup looks good, is there much happening after the headliners finish?

anyone used the offsite camping? If so what’s it like?

Latitude is the closest to me but the lineup v cost doesn’t provide much value for me.
cheers

Nothing official held by festival after headliners have finished. But Portsmouth has plenty of pubs and clubs for after.

Never used the campsite as live fairly local. Have driven past few times on way to amd from festival, looks nice but basic. Only complaints I've heard about campsite is the shuttle to and from it, one being busy (queues) and two its now not free to use.

Out of likes, so cheers👍

I just looked at the tickets and the shuttle is now extra £35 each.
it’s on the list of options

Im a local, so cant say too much on the camping, but I know there is nothing in the form of pubs/clubs that would be open near the campsite (I live about 0.5mile from it) and I think I have seen that they try and keep the campsite fairly quite after a certain time, due to it just being a massive field, split into zones, so your fairly close to families.

Your best bet, is to stay near the festival, as there are plenty of pubs and clubs, as the others have said. These are pretty much on the festival doorstep.

However you will need to get back to the campsite afterwards, and the festival campsite buses may have stopped. You will need to get a taxi, which will cost £12-£20 or the local bus, which runs 24hrs and is hourly I believe, which will take about 30-45mins and has a bit of a walk to campsite (10-15mins)

In the terms of the cost of the campsite. To buy a weekend ticket (No camping) or a weekend ticket with Camping - It costs the same £210 plus fees. So technically your camping is free. But if you use the buses, it is £35 per person per day.

Now doing IOW as well as Victorious.  I’ve asked over there for tips but nobody replies and I know we’re a little more active here.

any tips for IOW?

Are you staying on-site for IOW?

EDIT: I've done IOW a few times and to be totally honest it's not my favourite. You've got the Bembridge Red Trouser brigade and a lot of bored teenagers as well. My approach is usually staying at a cheap Air BnB in Ryde, then getting the shuttle bus there and back each day. Nice bakery on Ryde's Union Street.

Otherwise, take as much as you can muster if you're staying on-site because it's pretty ruralish. You can't just nip to the supermarket etc.

yeah we’re staying on site.  Will probably stay at the furthest point away as we’re a little older and need a bit of sleep.  Also means we should be closer to the car park for our early morning trip home Monday.

We’re driving so will cram as much in as we can.

With no Glasto we needed something to take our mind off it, Green Day, The Prodigy, The Streets should keep me entertained enough!

Music-wise it's solid and cannot complain about that at all. The demographic of the crowd is a little bit older as well, and a lot of Islanders use it for socialising. Also, If you're driving in, try and swing by a couple of places for fancy rations if you can:
https://www.harveybrowns.co.uk/ - the most amazing farm shop with plenty of local scran

https://www.woodfordandsons.co.uk/ - world's best sausage rolls. It's a PITA to park around here, but the sausage rolls are worth it

https://www.facebook.com/p/Ryde-Bakery-100057369282694/ - The buns here are AMAZINGGGGGGG

The food on the Island is top tier for sure.

Camped a couple of times after flying down from Scotland.  Really friendly atmosphere, never seen any hassle.  There’s a supermarket a 5 min walk from the site and they have a few vans on site too.

Bus to the festival is nice and easy, 20 min or so and never had a bother queuing. However, the queue on the way home, if waiting until after the headliners, is mental! After a day on the beer it is quite a challenge shall we say!

The last couple of years we’ve opted for the student accommodation, a few hundred quid but when you factor in the travel, tickets and spending cash for us, it’s not a huge dent and makes it far easier.  Hope that helps a bit 👍

Are we expecting any more bands to be announced or is this the final line up now?

There is normally 3 main  announcements. But they already announced quite a lot already, so everyone 50/50 whether we get another announcement. If we do, it wont be very much, or anyone big, as all headliners for Common, Castle, and beats have been announced, afternoon special guest too.

Just to give some context, on the main 2 stages last year there were about 17 acts.  There are I think around 22 ish on each he poster for each day.  One is certainly B&S and I think the Lee are also the Acoustic headliners too.  So based on that it’s very unlikely there’ll be more than one or 2 added to the main stages if anything at all

Any ideas for actual band start times on the Friday.  My flight gets into Southampton at 12 so trying to figure out if we’ve any chance of catching razorlight

I think last year Blossoms started around 1/1.30pm.

i notice jealous nostril are playing too, that’s Johnny Borrells other band if you like that kind of thing 👍
