Thought it was a good watch, interesting to see that Emily felt that the festival had 'lost its way' after the super-fence went up in 2002 and didn't really come into its own until 2008 when Jay-Z headlined.

Although I couldn't possibly know, I'd imagine that this was not so much a factual statement, it was more of a way of giving the documentary a narrative arc. Problems in each decade solved.

It was really interesting and had a few different angles compared to the other documentaries.. I didn’t realise how pivotal some bookings had been over the years at opening up new eras in the festivals history (other than the Jay Z thing) and I was surprised to hear Emily admit she thought the festival had lost something initially after the super fence went up.  And Michael’s tolerance of dance etc is funny.. I’m glad he’s open to letting others do their own thing so much.
I really enjoyed it, a really well put together and interesting view of the festival and I’m so excited to be heading there this time tomorrow!

I made a similar comment further up,....I didn't go until 2004 but had plenty of friends who went pre-super fence and post super-fence and they were of this opinion too, however to hear her saying it I was surprised!

I'm not sure if I hyped it up too much, but I was slightly dissapointed. The start was quite disjointed, and I felt it focused too much on what Glastonbury used to be, rather than what it is now.

I get that it was a 50th retrospective, but I've heard all those old stories before. As someone who has been going since 2009, those 10 years were condensed down to just Florence and Stormzy. It also seemed to be a little dismissive of what the festival is now.

    • Was volunteering at the Women’s Cricket World Cup at Southampton yesterday. Was great fun.
    • Definitely see this as being 'weak' on paper but could see a few bumps up from previous sets at Download (Don Broco, Neck Deep etc).
    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
