EDM isn't my sort of music at all but I've got to say I really enjoyed the 'show' put on by Martin Garrix in 2019. Are Chainsmokers / Marshmello performances likely to be similar?

Both of them have a very American-style set where they just rapidly mash together their originals with Dubstep, Riddim, Trap, EDM and just about everything else and having witnessed them live - it's a pretty decent show.

Still have my fingers crossed for Calvin Harris or Disclosure somewhere in the line-up 😢

I needed to check again to be sure.. so Tame Impala is currently on tour in the US, that tour strated in September this year and will end in a month (November).

First date for tour in Europe is June 2nd (Primavera Sound) and last (currently) is August 27th (Rock en Seine)

He's going on Australlian/New Zeland tour in October next year. So we know for sure that he's not leaving Europe from early June - end of August. So I'm pretty sure he will be at Sziget next year 🤞🏼

As for EDM act, I wouldn't mind seeing the Chainsmokers again, they can make an awesome show (they were great at Exit 2019) but I'm not a fan of Marshmello 😕  I still would love to see Calvin Harris on the lineup tho 😶

guys, if you're not that much into edm, you should know that for (most) djs it doesn't work like it does for other acts. while a common band has a troupe, loads of trucks full of equipment and everything else, so it's smart to rule them out if they play in the us weeks before/after the festival, a dj travels with few people (usually never more than 7/8) and only needs his computer and some flash drives. stage stuff and console are brought by the festival itself. that's why you should never rule out a dj (unless he's doing a gig on the other side of the planet the day before)

btw, if there's space for only one EDM headliner, I'd keep Calvin Harris, or maybe Swedish House Mafia - The Chainsmokers and Marshmello are both huge, but goes too hard for a common european crowd, they're more suitable for the US tbh

Marshmello was announced for Fm4Fequency festival in Austria for this year and he will probably be sawpped to next year, and dates for Fm4Frequency for 2022 is 18-20 August.

Mashmello was also announced for VOLT festival in 2020 so Sziget might take him off the Volt's lineup and switch him to Sziget 😶 (I hope not 😬🤞🏼)

Depends on the DJ to an extent to be fair, Chemical Brothers aren't going to be playing the US and Hungary in two days for example and there are a few others with big sets too. Would be very happy with Chemical Brothers

Disclosure would be fantastic, were amazing at Reading

Who is everyone hoping to return from the cancelled lineup? I have to say I was pretty happy with it, although would not be against some of the headliners being binned off - only really care about the strokes, i'm more after the undercard

On the undercard, I wanted to see:

Stormzy, Lewis Capaldi (for the jokes), Foals, Mark Ronson, FKA Twigs, Caribou, Sigrid, Of Monsters and Men, Keane, Glass Animals, Mabel, Little Simz, Fever 333, Seasick Steve, Jade Bird, Amyl and the Sniffers, Black Honey.

Would, obviously, love them all to return.

Would be happy with:
Dua Lipa, The Strokes, Stormzy, Sigrid, Miles Kane, Amyl and the Sniffers and Viagra Boys.

Would not mind: A$AP Rocky, Foster the People, Of Monsters and Men, Alison Wonderland and Black Honey.

From headliners I would like to see Calvin Harris and Kings of Leon back (but we know already that KoL are coming back)

From co-headliners: Khalid, Foals, Stormzy, Diplo, Foster the People, FKA Twigs

From "smaller" names: Glass Animals, Kaytranda, Sigrid, Of Monsters and Men, blackbear, Keane, Danzel Curry, Little Dragon, slowthai, Bob Moses, and some others

Imo 2020 lineup was awesome, I hope I won't de disappointed with the announcement 🤞🏼🌞

I see Swedish House Mafia have been announced to play Coachella next year, so they're starting to rack up festival appearances. EDM isn't my forte but they seem to be held in high esteem by those who do know about it.

A Swedish House Mafia booking would also give some truth to the 'bigger than ever' thing Sziget has been going on about.

Having seen SHM in 2019 and I can vouch, one of the best experiences ever.

They said the same thing about VOLT and BALATON lol..

I heard Kendrick Lamar will be in Europe next summer, but I think it might be too early to see him already back to Sziget.

I mean, Dula Peep is coming back next year and both Kendrick Lamar and Dula Peep were at Sziget in 2018 🤷🏼‍♂️

I would like to see Tyler, the Creator more tbh

Low-key though, how likely is it that The Weeknd adds a stop to Sziget now that he has cancelled all of his arena shows to go for Stadiums? That would be one hell of a saving grace imo

I mean, he's doing stadium tour now, tbh I would like to hear him at Sziget, but I think it's just not possible, but I was thinking about it too 😶 that would be a surpise tho

That's true... ! But still, I don't believe they'll bring him back. Plus, we don't want a "2018 .2" edition lol

Anyway.. tomorrow is an interesting day for many festivals , we'll see then 🙂

I don't think that Sziget will announce anything tomorrow, they always make an instagram/facebook announcement "New/First Names Tomorrow" before droping the actual names 🙃

Others are announcing which helps narrow down acts/see if new people are touring

Just to give you an idea of the best acts possible when it comes to DJs' ^^

I've been asking for Armin Van Buuren for so long, can't get why they never booked him ! 😞 ( I'm more of a rock/metal fan, but even I know how good this dude is lol )

as an edm fan, I'd truly suggest NOT to look at that shit ranking

    • mmm... i note there are several derogatory comments about this... not sure what it says about me, but i could spend a happy afternoon here...   Simple Minds, Deacon Blue and Texas are all great live bands.   hell, i'd even be drawn away from the bar to see James Blunt (if only for a bit of a nostalgia trip for his show on the Pyramid that i admit i hugely enjoyed).   still, with all that said - there's no way i'm going to the other end of the country for it...   🙂

    • Have a great festival to those that are going, I cant wait to get there tomorrow!
    • ah i get ya.. Yeah I hate festivals that have that barrier and front section. Roskilde is gonna be the same, which I'm not looking forward to navigating. Like you say, you end up missing other stuff having to get there dead early. Luckily there's not much we're arsed about on at Roskilde though so that wont be such an issue! hahaha
    • Not directly my expectation but my wishlist   - car seat headrest (it has been way too long these guys did Europe) - death cab for cutie - new constellations - interpol - bush - swimschool - suede - the haunted youth (should have been there this year) - flipturn   and oh yes Yumi Zouma can come any week, day, hour but this is a personal fetish with this band
