labour politicians spaffing money.

bristol has just spent £50M+ doing up its main concert hall, i went there last night to see a band and could barely notice a difference from when i was last there. 😞

more money than sense.

israel thought they had a 'serious' deal the other day till Hamas pulled the plug. can't see Israel  getting into that again quickly.

There's reports of a deal thrashed out in Paris. Hamas have said they'll look at it to be implemented in stages. The Isreali comments might just be politics to reassure people they aren't giving away too much. Also keeping a security watch over Gaza similar to the West bank isn't the same as full occupation.

I for one will miss Barry the fish. I know he wound some up but enjoyed his position and content.

The only thing I'm going to add to what crazyfool has already said that the ban had nothing to do with his expressed political views. It's worth emphasising that in the first 5 years where I was a mod I argued with him repeatedly on political issues here and he never once got banned for any of that behaviour.

Win for UK/DUP...the EU does budge after all...

One of the problems is the EU being stricter at the GB/NI broder than other entry points to the single market. They are entitled to do it of course but we are still very close to their standards so it is a deliberate tactic. Possibly they do it so they have something to give away in negotiations like these

the problem was that a border had to go somewhere...this seems to be the best fudge possible.

no, just partial occupation...it is hardly accepting Palestine as an autonomous sovereign state.

I agree but they keep launching rockets and grooming teenagers to stab people on buses.

Aye, certainly would know he wouldn't have been banned on that.

I think we'll end up with something close to Theresa May's deal, perhaps even a customs union when Labour win.

If given autonomy it throws bombs over the fence. That's not a secure Israel.

I think you're hoping for too much. A custom's union would come with other obligations (perhaps free movement) that would be a step too far if not an explicit part of Labours manifesto.

How do you know?

It's never had autonomy.

Gaza has just not sovereign autonomy. It was self governing and the bombs kept coming over the fence. Why would Israel agree to being bombed?

Why would Gaza agree to be effectively imprisoned with goods and personnel only leaving at the whim of Israel. Why would Gaza agree to have it's olive groves and orchards destroyed, have it's land stolen by Zionist "settlers", have it's water supply turned on and off at the whim of Israel, have it's youth arrested and imprisoned with no charges (because they haven't done anything other than be Palestinian) etc etc

I guess best way to resolve that would be to go into Israel and kill a load of Jews and take a bunch more hostage, and make sure film it so can upload clips on social media.

Why would it l? For a ceasefire and a chance to rebuild from the much greater destruction it brought on itself by the October 7th attacks.

    • Judging by last night at Wembley, Luke Combs should be in the conversation of headliner. The UK is having a moment with country music so I don't think it would be particularly left field either.

    • It feels really busy this year, loads of big groups of youngsters too. Slightly different vibe to previous years I've been. As with Tramlines, they're very chatty during sets and there's a constant stream of them in and out of the crowd... definitely feeling my age 😂   The Quarry stage I think is a lot smaller than previous years - seems similar size to Squid/Leadmill. Some sets have been difficult to get in.   I think I've reached my limit with mid-tier indie guitar bands. There's been quite a few this weekend where I've gone over to see them then walked away after 20 mins. Surprisingly, enjoyed the Fratellis set the most in this genre. Probably getting on for 20 years since I last saw them. Wasn't expecting them to do Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which was fab!   Hugely enjoyed the Happy Mondays yesterday, and same but different with Radio Free Alice who I saw again on Friday, following Tramlines last weekend. A big run of pop acts today - Scissor Sisters will be fantastic!
    • I have a spare campervan pass to get rid of.  unable to use Kaboodle as it is only entry that they re-sell
