yeah, it would likely be more like Osborne.

I don't know how popular he would be, comes across as a bit of a snotty little prick if you ask me...and his ratings went through the floor in the spring...he was only popular when he was paying people's wages or buying their dinner and posting glossy pictures of himself on instagram.

Sunak plays well with a lot of the country.  Likeable, personality, has financial credibility and so on...

Yes I agree, I think the Labour lead is pretty soft currently. By soft I mean their positive polling is down to push factors, ie then not being this government, rather than pull factors, ie things Labour are doing to attract voters across.

Hung Parliament would be the result I would expect should this hypothetical scenario come to pass.

Actually this week he has been spouting bollocks defending the govt, but someone has to do it...and he actually has been on the light side of the force in terms of energy use and solar farms etc.

If Sunak came in as Chancellor (never going to happen) there would definitely be a bounce in the polls. Said it before but in the vast majority of cases, the general public actually don't mind u-turns as it comes across as politicians listening to them and 'doing the right thing', even if people more interested/invested in politics see it for what it is: incompetence.

Truss will be gone soon. And whoever steps in as the next PM, I just can't see a General Election not happening. This government is crumbling away like a soggy biscuit.

as Lost points out Sunak may stick with the NI rise...which was pretty unpopular. Tax cuts are popular, problem was that markets thought too much with current debt levels and uncertainty, and the 45p one was just dumb as favoured the wealthy during a cost of living crisis. I am sceptical how popular Sunak would be.
