It’s actually quite hilarious how little they seem to have on Kamala. She’s very much been in the background for Biden’s 4 years so hasn’t given them ammunition there, and her biggest downside seems to be that she was pretty tough on crime when she was a District Attorney, but Republicans whole thing is being tough on crime. So far, all they seem to have is that she’s a woman, of colour, and appears to laugh a lot…

Lots of stuff coming out about how Trump’s whole strategy has been to attack Biden specifically and now that he’s out, they’ve got f**k all. Apparently even JD Vance was chosen as VP because that were so sure they were gonna beat Biden that they didn’t even bother choosing a VP who could bring in undecided voters - they just went full MAGA loyalist instead thinking it wouldn’t matter.

Twitter* already awash with the old Birther arguments.

Questions will still be asked, how much did Whitehouse cover up about state of Biden? How much did Harris know? Should he not be president now if not up to it?

No reason given by Biden in his statement so could very easily say he’s in perfectly good health to continue for the next few months but feels he wouldn’t be up to a further four years. Interested to see what he says when he gives his in person statement in a few days.

And more importantly, he has now decided to bow out, whereas Trump and his soup brain are still going for it.

Very funny how much he/they are shitting themselves right now. Spent all their time attacking Biden for his age, cognitive ability etc and now that’s all coming back on to Trump, and from a woman of colour, the ultimate embarrassment for him if he loses, and they’ve had no real platform to run on other than ‘Biden sleepy’ so have to start from scratch. You love to see it.

I still think Biden was sh*t on by his own party but that’s in the past now. I’m quite enjoying the fact republicans were all crying out for him to step down because he was unfit and now that he has they’re saying wait, he can’t do that.😂😂

Republicans already coming up with excuses for him to not debate Kamala as well because they know his tactics of spouting utter shite that can’t be responded to won’t work on her.

He’ll just keep interrupting and talk loudly over the top of her. I give him less than 24 hours before he says something personal and nasty about Harris. He won’t be able to help himself.

The thing is I don’t think the age in isolation is the issue. Biden showed his age more than Trump did.

Still backfiring on Trump. Biden may have been more apparent in the last few

months, but it doesn’t take away the fact that Trump routinely goes on tangents on utter nonsense which they’re now free to point out without the retort of ‘bit Sleepy Joe!’ coming back at them. They probably should’ve worked on something to campaign on other than literally just insulting the other guy.

So many with the same narrative that he isn’t fit to run the country can’t distinguish from the fact he has stepped down because he can’t commit to another 4 and a half years not that he isn’t fit to run the country for another 6 months. The GOP really is getting themselves in a bit of a tizz about all this.

I think they should have seen this coming at least 12 months ago. Thank god they did the debates earlier than normal.

Did they give any reason as to why they did this? I do wonder if it was Dems giving Biden a chance to prove he still had it when faced with Trump before they officially swore him in as their candidate, and ultimately he didn’t.

Just heard on BBC R4's 'The World At One', the next president of the USA will be a woman, but not Harris. It'll be Michelle Obama. That's according to an Asparamancer - someone who predicts the future by dropping asparagus onto a table. And you can't argue with scientific rigor.

To me that’s slightly different. Trumps nonsense just seems like Trump being trump. With Biden it definitely felt age was creeping up on him and we know that can only head in one direction .

that's the trick - he has manufactured this persona that whatever he says  - no matter how crazy it is - no matter how  much it might suggest he is in some sort of mental decline, folk just shrug their shoulders  and say "Its just Trump"

Hidden in plain sight, you might call it.

I don't know...he always drivels on about random mad sh*t from his warped little brain, and maybe it has got worse and who knows how he'll be going forward, but he almost looks like he could last another 4 years, Biden really doesn't.

And that moment when he got shot at and managed to compose himself and do his fist punch fight fight fight thing was kind of impressive.

    • I am very possibly wrong about this but I do think that the pitch you get allocated appears to be related to your time of arrival, (i.e. you get the next one available) rather than the price you paid for a small, medium or large pitch.  They all appear to be the same size to me.

    • I take my lad to the local non-league club - Royston Town - not he's 13, he goes there with his mates and he plays in their youth team.  Not many people there - lucky if they hit 800, but lovely supporting the town team.  I've took him to some league clubs too - Cambridge and Stevenage are great to visit and not crazy prices - his first one was Cambridge v Sunderland (I'm a mackem) when they were in league 1, so a great experience for him.  The England matches aren't too bad value either at Wembley - it's just the parking that stings you. Problem is, he's a City fan, so at some point have to bite the bullet and get him up to the Ethiad. Have done the tour, but he'd love a proper game....my wallet, less so!
    • Said it before, but if Annie Lennox is available next year, then it would be an absolute crime to instead book anyone else. She's rare and legendary enough that you drop all other plans.
