What bad experience did Graspop have with Motley Crue?

Bob Schoenmaekers, the man who is coordinating the program of Graspop, said in multiple interviews that one of his dreams was booking Motley Crue. In 2009 it happened, but they were not professional (Vince Neill arrived drunk), really crashed the backstage (old school), had problems with Graspop crew... and their show was not that good.

Never again he said.

Think they will play Groez

They play Brussels on April 16th. Impossible to play Groezrock after and got the information the festival won't be happening again in 2020.

I think PWD will make a break after the shows in April and won't come back in Europe before they finish the new album. Reverence In 2018, Ire in 2015, Atlas in 2012... new one in 2021 I guess. Early May, after their short run in Europe, Reverence will be 2 years old. Enough to focus on a 7th album. They made festivals in June 2018, June 2019, August 2019, that's enough.

Why not Rammstein as a headliner? When you view the tour dates, you see that all performances up to and including the performance in Ostend are sold out on 10 June. Afterwards they have 3 performances in UK (14, 17 and 20/6) and on June 24 they play in Nijmegen. So it is possible on Friday 19/6 or Sunday 21/6, on condition that they leave their tower and the main part of their equipement ... The performance in Ostend is not organized by Live Nation, but by Greenhouse Talent.

They don't seem to play ANY festivals next year, but I expect them for 2021.

Volbeat just got announced for Download, so chance of playing Graspop?

It's 50/50 (even before the Download announcement). Rumors send them to Werchter as they've a huge success in Belgium. If not at RW, they'll be back - again - at GMM.

No Volbeat for Graspop normally. I’ve expected them there but their agent wants to do something else next summer.

Something else. Like a Volbeat headlining open air show? Or maybe a Knotfest with Volbeat on it? :)

My bet is Lokerse Feesten.

It wouldn't make any sense. The capacity of the festival (15k) is smaller than the SportPaleis where they played a few days ago (20k). In Belgium, they've the size to headline Graspop, co-headline Werchter, headline Pukkelpop. Not smaller festivals like Alcatraz or Lokerse Feesten.

Was surprised to see Metallica announced to a festival in May, does that relaunch any rumor of them being around in EU next summer, and would that included Graspop or RW ? I'd love to see them !

Are you speaking about the festival in USA? The band announced it already a few weeks ago. They gonna play 2 shows at 5 festivals during the Summer. Those festivals are from May to September. Each show will have a different set-list. I'd really surprised if Metallica come in Europe this Summer. Chance are 0.1% in my opinion.

    • TOP 10 acts (top 5 in bold😞   Blood Orange (ciutat)   Guitarricadelafuente   Oklou - Looks like I'm capable of enjoying music in the rain after all, just not the whole night.   Rilo Kiley   The Cure   Jade   Depresión Sonora   Gelli Haha (Parc del Forum) - Her music never really clicked with me. Until I saw her live.   MARINA   Six Sex (ciutat) - I was shocked how supersmall the venue was and that almost everyone (except for me) knew every word of every song (including the ones that were released this weekend!).   Honorable mention:   Ashnikko - missed the first 15 minutes (because of Gelli Haha) and I'm not really a fan of her music, but the show was an absolute blast.
    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
