I'm back - in fact never went away.  Got to Bristol Airport ready to check in for flight to Bilbao and had a message to say 93 year old mother in law had had a bad fall.  We ended cancelling flight and driving back to spend 48 hours caring for her.  So all I managed was a coffee at the airport.  Now into family meetings to plan for her continuing care.

There's many a time when I have, utterly stupidly, ran with such a starting pair of cards. I now realize that I'm an idiot (for a variety of reasons - most of them non poker related) for having done so. The most 'burned' I got was paying several hundred pounds to see another card (after having already put several hundred pounds in to the pot). I was beaten on the run by one. I was at university at the time and it added up to all the money I had and I was only in week two of the term. Then a mature Iranian student walked in to the room, found out about my loss, declared that he'd clear it and get my money back within half an hour, and then proceeded to do so. Then he walked straight out of the kitchen and in to the hallway of our student accommodation. I walked out after him and asked him if there was anything I could do to pay him back. His answer was that I could suck his cock. I politely refused, went to my bedroom, tore down a Clint Eastwood poster off the wall that I knew he liked and gave that to him instead.

    • She pulled in 50k people at Lollapalooza, she's definitely Addison Rae level in terms of popularity.
    • When it comes to legacy alternative acts I hope they bring the Afghan Whigs. Those newly released songs are incredible and classic Whigs sound
    • We’ve a friend  who has hens and sells eggs for two quid for six. So much tastier than supermarket ones. She has an honesty box outside her house and has now expanded into selling them to hotels and the local butchers shop. Quite a decent wee business
    • Curiously a rumour has turned up that Barcelona are now interested in Rodri. So could make Real Madrid and Man City are suddenly both in need of a central midfielder.    ... Assuming this move to Arsenal for Bruno Guimaraes ends up being processed before those two may need to enter the conversation.
    • I think Thunderbolts probably had one of the more interesting villains for an MCU movie. I was actually a bit creeped out by Void. I'm a massive horror movie fan, and I can't think of another time in the last couple of years where a character legit scared me like he did.    Brand New Day was a good time. A great villain choice as it played into Parker's insecurities. Castle was a strange inclusion but the dynamic between him and Parker was great. Castle must have been delighted to have someone who never seen themselves as superior to him like Murdoch pretty much always did.
